TravelSafe Classic
I purchased this plan for a significant trip that was planned well in advance. Unfortunately, major family health issues required me to cancel the trip about a month before the departure date. I promptly filed a claim, and spent hours pulling together the extensive paperwork that was requested (proof of reservations, proof of cancellations, documentation about the medical issues, etc.). TravelSafe/TripMate's response seemed to be to stall, delay, request additional paperwork, and (seemingly) hope that I would give up and go away. After submitting paperwork (by mail or online), it generally took TripMate about 1 week to acknowledge receipt in their online system, even if I called to confirm that they had already received the paperwork. Then there would be a delay of several weeks, before I would receive a request for additional documentation, which often duplicated documents I had already sent (or were slightly different versions of prior documentation). I always promptly responded to the requests and sent the requested documentation so that I would not delay the process. My claim was finally approved about 3.5 months after I initially started the claim. However, the reason my claim seemed to finally gain traction was that my travel companion (same trip/insurance/reason for cancellation) contacted the InsureMyTrip advocates after receiving no response or updates about her claim after several months; the advocate quickly got her claim resolved and paid. After notifying TripMate that my companion's claim had already been paid, my claim was finally approved and paid about 2 weeks later. Overall, this process seemed far more complicated and slow than necessary; I do not plan to purchase travel insurance through this company again.

    We are sorry to hear that the TravelSafe / TripMate claims process was so difficult. Although the processing did take an unusually long time, TravelSafe / TripMate was fair in settling your claim and providing payment as you confirmed.

    It was unfortunate that you were unable to take advantage of the services of an Anytime Advocate much earlier in the process. If you should ever have to file a claim in the future, please be sure to contact us to request assistance if you do not hear from the claims department within 30 days of submitting your paperwork, or if you believe that your claim was unfairly denied.

    InsuremyTrip is available weekdays from 7:00 AM to midnight ET and weekends from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET.

I'm submitting this review with the caveat that we didn't need to make a claim. An insurance plan is really only as good as the actual coverage and the ease of making a claim and getting reimbursed. This service appears to be a great one, but I can't fully endorse any company until I've used all of their services.

Travel insurance does provide peace of mind in case you do have to use it, but unfortunately, no travel insurance provider would issue you a refund after you've taken a trip.

    Your plan did have a 10 Day Review Period to request a refund after you purchase. If after you look over your policy, you find that it does not meet your needs, you can cancel it while you are inside the review period. Comprehensive travel insurance goes into effect for you the following day after you purchase a plan to cover you for Trip Cancellation.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Plus
I have come to believe Travel Insurance is useless except for in very RARE circumstances. Last year I did not purchase insurance for a trip that was cancelled as the taxi was in our driveway. Come to learn the insurance would NOT have covered it anyway. This year I called your company to see what assistance I could get when it appeared we would have a 9 hour delay in our flight, causing a connection to be missed. The best you could suggest is that we purchase another 1 way ticket and submit a claim when we got home.....and PERHAPS we would be reimbursed for it. Well....we all know how THAT would have turned out!!!!

I am currently holding insurance on 2-3 more trips. When they are completed we will not be purchasing any more trip insurance as it is for the most part useless. I could have had another Tanzanian safari for 2 with what I have paid you all over the years. Turns out if we had we needed to file a claim, it would have been money down the drain.

    Thank you very much for taking the time to submit your review. Perhaps we can change your mind with a more detailed description of coverage.

    All travel insurance is written on a 'named peril" basis which means that the reason for the claim must be specifically listed in your policy as a covered reason. The number one covered reason for Trip Cancellation in all Comprehensive plans is the unexpected sickness, injury or death of you, your traveling companion or your family member. Of course, there are other covered reasons that vary by policy. As you found out, canceling your trip because there is a taxi in your driveway would not be a covered reason under any of our plans.

    We can also understand why you would be bothered because a claim representative would not confirm payment for a claim. No one will predetermine a claim until the company has received the paperwork. Nevertheless, there may very well be coverage under your policy for your Missed Connection:

    "If You miss Your cruise or tour departure because Your arrival at Your Trip destination is delayed for 3 or more hours, due to:
    a) any delay of a Common Carrier (the delay must be certified by the Common Carrier);
    b) documented weather condition preventing You from getting to the point of departure;
    c) quarantine, hijacking, Strike, Natural Disaster, terrorism or riot.
    We will reimburse You, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount shown in the Confirmation of Benefits, for:
    a) Your Additional Transportation Cost to join Your Trip; and
    b) Your Prepaid expenses for the unused land or water Travel Arrangements; and
    c) reasonable accommodation, telephone and meal expenses up to 0 per day necessarily incurred by You for which You have proof of purchase and which were not paid for or provided by any other source."

I regret buying a policy from here as they have companies that use Trip Mate to "Process" claims, but they don't process the claims but just give you the run around over and over. I submitted a claim November 15 with all the correct documentation and have not been paid yet. They keep saying they mailed me a check, but constantly change the date they say they mailed it. Avoid Global Alert, Travel Safe, and TripAssure as they use this Trip Mate as a claim processor !
4-10-18 update: I finally received a check for my claim almost 5 months after submitting all the required paperwork. Insure MyTrip.com did assign an advocate to help me, but she could not find out much either, however while she was waiting to hear from them about when the check was being sent out, the check was generated and I received it today. I appreciate InsureMyTrip.com stepping up to help; I wish I had known they had someone to help back in 2017 when I started having trouble get the claim paid.

I cancelled my trip& sent claim in November. After 5 months only in April your insurance could solve my claim. I was calling many many times to check my status of claim, nobody could answer my question. I was sent from one department to another. Loosing time and emotional stress. Terrible experience. I would never recommend to buy your insurance.
