Whenever I go on a trip weather in the US or to other countries. In this case to fish for Atlantic salmon on the rivers of the Gaspe in Quebec. For peace of mind i always add medical and travel insurance coverage for my journey. Global Alert was the exact coverage I needed at this time.

The cancel for any reason rider is NOT for any reason. It does not include any emergencies that may happen in the 48 hours before you leave on your trip. This is ridiculous and idiotic.
I do not recommend this company, nor do I think that travel insurance is a very good investment for many of us who do not book all-inclusive trips.

According to the terms and conditions of your plan, in order to use Cancel for Any Reason, you must cancel Your Trip 48 hours or more before Your Scheduled Departure Date. Unfortunately, we do not have any plans that will allow you to cancel your trip for any reason on the day of departure. Didn't need it, thank goodness. However as we nearly missed our connecting flight (different carriers) home- we reread all our paperwork and no where did it say what happens if we miss (by other carrier delays) last flight of the night on the way home. It was concerning (still not sure the answer- it says about on the way to our tour, but not home), but we had the app ready and would have called if we needed you.

Haven't filed a claim so can't do a real evaluation. But on paper, the plan is good. It was one of just two plans that would cover complications of an existing pregnancy. They thoughtfully sent us a card with plan details, and they have a phone app with various info. (The app sends you alerts about emergency situations around the world -- would be better if only sent them for where you are or will go). They have pre-screened doctors in various countries, and can issue "guarantee of payment" so they pay the doctor directly.
