Submitted a claim, was supposed to take 10-15 business days to review, ended up taking over 25 or so, but it was approved the second time I called to check and and speed it up.
It was for $250, but still.. Submitted everything and it was all taken care of, happy we paid for insurance.

The plan covered my trip and paid when I had to cancel. Communication with the company was difficult. I used their online form to start the claim but then the site would never allow me to upload neccessary documents. When I asked for help with this I got no response. I had to attach and email everything and this was cumbersome. Several times I was told they needed the information again, sometimes as often as three times, which required more emails. I got the distinct impression they were trying to wear me down. However, eventually they did pay the claim. I was also surprised to find that they outsourced the claim to a third party. I did not deal with them directly.

I incurred expenses due to a lengthy flight delay that involved thunderstorms in NJ and then a flight control bottleneck. AIG denied my claim saying that air traffic control issues are an excluded cause. I don't doubt that but why? It feels like they deliberately planted odd loopholes to save themselves some $ and I'm feeling like "why do I even buy travel insurance?!"

"Thank you for providing this review and I’m sorry to hear that your travel plans were interrupted while away. The term ‘Air Traffic Control’ does not appear in the exclusions of our Essential plan. Our Essential plan does carry Trip Delay benefits for situations where Inclement Weather causing a delay of 12 or more consecutive hours. Documentation must be provided to support the claim. I would recommend that you contact our Claims Call Center in order to review the claim determination in greater detail. Our Claims Call Center can be reached at 855-668-7303."
I always use IMT and recommend to others. Staff on phone is always helpful and they have large variety of companies. NEVER but from a cruise or tour company. If they go out of business - many have- you get nothing
