We did not need to file a claim, so it's difficult for me to assess how good the coverage was, as I didn't use the insurance. It appeared to us to cover what we needed and the price was reasonable. And, we were not disappointed in the least that we paid for the coverage but didn't use it!

John Hancock may be an adequate travel insurer but its claims administrator, Sedgwick, caused me never to purchase any type of John Hancock insurance coverage. Nineteen days before scheduled departure for a France guided tour, I had been hospitalized the second time in as many weeks for bronchitis. The second time was also for sinusitis and the new strain of Covid. CT/MRI scans of the sinuses also revealed that I had incurred a minor stroke. Because of the recurring respiratory infections and need for a cardiology referral, the hospital physician signed a statement medically advising to cancel the upcoming trip scheduled for August 20--September 6. Sedgwick rejected the letter for lack of "required documentation" but would not specify what was required. Four times submitting documentation that did not satisfy Sedgwick, I learned it only wanted physician to specify the dates I could not travel. When bronchitis returned for the third time, I showed the physician Sedgwick's email. He retroactively specified the dates I was restricted from travel. I do no recommend John Hancock insurance because of its claims adjuster, Sedgwick. Lesson learned: always confirm if the insurance company also administers claims. Third-party claims adjusters may be paid a bonus for the amount of claims denied. Caveat emptor!

fortunately I did not need to use the coverage; however it cost more than any trip I have ever taken. I felt that the insurance plan was WAY too expensive.

Thank you for your feedback. Generali has provided the following response:
"We appreciate your feedback. Our pricing is based on a variety of factors including trip cost, trip duration, time to departure and more. We regularly review our pricing and pride ourselves on having some of the highest benefit limits for the coverages travelers need most. You can easily check our coverage limits and compare those to the competitors by viewing our plan charts at https://www.generalitravelinsurance.com/view-travel-insurance-plans.html . In situations like travel delay and missed connection, the extra dollars can make a big difference. We recommend checking the other plans to ensure they offer things like companion hospitality expenses in case of emergency hospitalization and a sufficient emergency dental coverage."
I had a major pre-trip issue, Generali Global was very responsive, handied it quickly and to my satisfaction. I will definitely use them for my next trip.

I bought the insurance prior to a trip to Canada. On the day of the trip, my husband had severe gastroenteritis, and was unable to travel. I called the insurance to check on coverage, I was told there would be no reimbursement for airfare if the airline offered any voucher for further travel. The airline did offer a voucher for travel to be completed within a 10 month period. We have no plans for immediate travel. However, that voids any reimbursement from the insurance I purchased. It wasn't worth the coverage in my experience.
