C&F Travel Insured InternationalWorldwide Trip Protector Lite
My trip was cancelled because of the worldwide covid pandemic. After filling out many forms and submitting many documents, it took the Insurance Company almost 9 months to tell me that there was a line in my plan that said they would not pay if the trip was cancelled by the provider.

After a disastrous, aborted international trip (after missing flight connections on multi-carrier trip) we had to file a claim. The outcome was as we had hoped, the insurance covered all missed and subsequent flight segments, so in the end we only lost around 10% (due to flights we had already taken). The processing time was incredibly long, however that seemed due to the fact, that their main website and processing center was down for a few weeks (so even phone operators couldn't access the cases to provide an update). That was unfortunate, however since we didn't need the refund money right away, it was acceptable. I would assume, that post their IT problems, the processing would be substantially faster (weeks instead of 3 months). This incident was once again proof to us, that explicit travel insurance is a worthwhile expense, if it's an international trip that doesn't come cheap.

We were very disappointed in Nationwide Insurance and this product. Our Summer 2020 European trip was cancelled in April 2020 due to the global pandemic. We contacted Nationwide immediately and they recommended that we pursue reimbursement from the travel providers then file a claim for any unrecoverable funds. We trusted that they were guiding us properly and followed their advice. We did indeed have unrecoverable funds and filed for reimbursement immediately after our last refund in Dec 2020. Nationwide denied our claim stating that the global pandemic was not a covered peril. Why was my policy not cancelled and my premium refunded when my trip was cancelled? Why did the Nationwide representative lead me on to believe that we were covered when I contacted them in April? If a global pandemic with travel shutdown all over the world is not covered, why buy insurance? At this point, I would not recommend using Nationwide and I'm not sure about purchasing travel insurance anymore. It looks like there is a very narrow window for reimbursement and obviously the insurer's intent is to deny most of the claims. My experience has been that the travel providers have been focused on taking care of their customers and the insurance company is finding ways to say no. Why buy insurance?

unfortunately, I had to cancel my trip to Germany because of my husband's medical issues. The process of receiving a refund was straightforward and reasonable as far as the documentation was concerned. The ticket was refunded in an expedient manner. I was extremely pleased how this whole situation was handled. As a matter of fact, I already had sent an E-mail to the claims' department to thank them for the excellent service I received.
