Didn't have to use the coverage so no way to gauge the actual effectiveness but everything was smooth from the standpoint of signing up, receiving the policy and getting reminders to take it along on the trip in case anything did go wrong.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
I went on a cruise to Hawaii and it was so rough we were unable to stop in Maui where I had a hotel reserved. I called and was told this was not trip interruption and I should have gotten cruise insurance. I got this insurance because I was going places other than the cruise (like Maui). Anyway, I'm out $300.00 and the cost of the useless insurance.

There are some insurance providers that offer Cruise policies, these are policies that offer cruise specific benefits. Benefits can include Itinerary Change, Port of Call Change, Shipboard Service Disruption and others. Fortunately, we did not have to use any benefits of the plan. There were however two medical emergencies on the cruise that required the people to disembark, one by helicopter at sea. That was a reminder of how important insurance can be.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
We settled on Generali Global travel insurance by doing a comparison using a chart provided on the internet. We felt that Generali provided the coverage that we were most concerned with i.e. delayed travel, insurance if we had to cancel our trip or if we had to cut our trip short due to illness as we have an elderly mother. Luckily we did not have to make any claims as our vacation went very smooth. It is nice to know that we had coverage just the same.

Plan offered more benefits than others. Fortunately I did not have to make a claim, the day before our trip I received an email with InsureMyTrip phone numbers in case it was needed. Great customer service.

    Premiums for comprehensive policies are based largely on the length of the trip, the ages of the travelers, and the cost of the trip. A travel insurance policy is considered to be of good value when the policy premium is 4-10% of the insured trip cost.

I got sick while on the cruise, my primary insurance covered the cost which I am pleased they did
the paperwork required by nationwide was too much.
when you have purchased travel insurance why do they need your boarding pass to prove that you went on the trip.
I will use your company again but i wont be using nationwide

    We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with Nationwide's claim process. Nevertheless, you may find that most, if not all claims departments, may require a copy of your boarding pass to file a claim. We cannot stress enough that you should save your receipts and proof of expenses so that you can be accurately reimbursed, whether it be costs due to a delay of travel for hotel or meal, or medical records for emergency treatment received.
