Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
Used Nationwide for travel insurance back in Dec 2017. Had to file a claim, which they dragged for 2 months with multiple calls and emails. Then refused to cover my claim with incorrect information on their justification. Will never do business with Nationwide again.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that you are dissatisfied with this plan. We understand that it is never pleasant to receive a denial for reimbursement under the Trip Delay coverage. However, the claims administrator is required to adjudicate claims based on the terms and conditions of the policy. Unfortunately, it was determined that the amount of time you were delayed did not fall within the scope of Trip Delay for this specific plan.
The Trip Delay benefit of the policy purchased reimburses for Economy Fare from the point where you ended your Covered Trip to a destination where You can catch up to the Covered Trip if you are delayed en route to or from the Trip for six (6) hours or more due to a defined hazard. Due to the fact that none of your flights were delayed by six hours or more, Nationwide denied your claim.
In the future, please call us at 800-487-4822 prior to purchasing a policy so that we can assist you in selecting a policy that best suits your needs.
thankfully I didn't need to use it so I have no idea how good it really is. It seemed somewhat pricey and would like to have more coverage for lost and delayed baggage, and missed connections.

We always look for the highest medical and medical evac coverage, as that is where the real money can be protected. Went on a cruise, and a lot of the passengers were suffering from falls on the ship due to rough seas. Medical costs from a ship's doctor / med center are VERY costly, and many of those passengers has huge bills for treatment / medical devices (slings, crutches, walkers, etc). Many USA health plans and Medicare can be near-worthless when you leave the country. We always get insurance, always to include pre-existing conditions, and we buy it within the guidelines to protect the pre-existing condition coverage. Don't leave home without it.

I ended up getting norovirus on our cruise, and the insurance covered charges from the cruise ship medical center. It took some time to process the claim, but they covered everything.

Five star!! Due to pain and an unplanned back surgery, had to cancel our trip. Got a partial refund from the company, Grand Circle, because of timing of cancellation, and the remainder was fully reimbursed by the insurance company Global Alert (Preferred). Cost was among 3 lowest fora coverage needed. STRONGLY RECOMMEND talking to knowledgeable InsureMyTrip employees before purchasing any policy; they have knowledge & background to discuss primary vs. secondary coverage (you don't want to be bounced back & forth between your medical insurance co. and trip insurance co., for example!), etc. Claim processing is provided by a 3rd party and, for the record, Broadspire who did ours was accurate, responsive (talked to rep), forward-looking re issues. But the insurance company forms are not always clear, & it's definitely worth a call to company BEFORE you claim to help choose reasonable alternatives (e.g.: form required "hospital bill" as "proof of stay." However, you can only get this after 6-8 weeks: ask any hospital. Instead, used "hospital discharge papers" copy.). Overall, five stars and we will use again.

We could not figure out how to make the collect call that was to be used to notify this insurer of our issue. No one in the country we were in, (Iceland) knew how to make a collect call. We tried to email the insurer and they gave us another number. It was so difficult we gave up. While our issue could be dealt with when we got home, if we had had a true emergency we would have been left hanging with no help. An insurance policy where you can't contact the insurance company is no good to anyone. At the least, the insurer should provide instructions for making a collect call in the country you are going to.
