Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
We purchased travel insurance for a cruise of the Eastern Mediterranean for late September. Unfortunately, my wife came down with some medical problems and we had to cancel. I have seen many reviews that were positive but never had to exercise the policy and a number of reviews that were negative when they tried to collect so I wanted to write a positive experience for a policy that I had to collect on. The true reviews are how a company performs when you have to exercise the policy.
The AIG Travel guard web site was very easy to use to file a claim and was very clear on the documentation needed for validation of the claim. All the documentation could be up-loaded through the web site and I could add extra documentation as needed. After the documentation was complete (it took a day or two to get everything up-loaded) I waited about 2 weeks and got an e-mail stating I was getting a refund for the full amount that I submitted. From reading about problems with collecting on travel insurance, I fully expected to have to haggle with AIG but I did not. I am extremely happy with AIG Travel Guard and will buy only by from them in the future.

We luckily didn't have any issues and didn't need to use the plan but it was nice to receive the updated email right before the trip that reminded us of our coverage and links and gave us the phone numbers we needed. Since you might not have WiFi on the cruise ship, make sure to screenshot those phone numbers.

I was completely disappointed in the exorbitant cost of the travel insurance for my husband and I for our recent trip to Hungary, it was absolutely over the top price-wise to Europe, it wasn't like we were going to Timbuktu or some other third world country. I thought $532.44 was outrageously expensive for this coverage. Is it because we are both in our 70's?? Let me tell you, we are both very healthy older people; I actually run five miles every other day along with other exercises, hence the reason we can travel overseas. When I originally applied for the insurance and read how much it would cost me, I decided to wait until we returned to express my complete displeasure at the cost. In the past, I have used Insure My Trip for travel to Beijing and it was NEVER this expensive. For future travel, I will NOT use this company again for insurance, it was a complete ripoff, nor will I recommend it to family and friends.

Thank you for providing your feedback. There are 3 main factors that determine premium costs: the cost of the trip, the length of the trip, and the travelers ages.
