Broke a tooth eating a "rib" (pork I think) in Germany, but chose to wait until I returned to America to seek treatment as I didn't want to translate to a German dentist as I don't speak German (other than how to order schnitzel and "bier") and naturally it happened on a weekend. When I got home my Internet access was not working and I spent two plus hours talking to a nice lady in the Philippines who, in the end, couldn't help me. Then I went to do errands and my car wouldn't start, because someone in my absence left the trunk door open which drained/killed the battery, which I replaced for give or take $150. But, I digress, none of my woes were covered by your policy and those that would be never arose. Insurance is purchased in the hope you won't need it, but if you do you have it. Sounds like something Yogi Berra (God rest his soul) would say. So, I'm glad I had it. Going to dentist tomorrow. Wish me luck.

I kept thinking what if they lose my luggage but then I would think, don’t worry about it, you’re covered. I also thought about getting hurt, we did a lot of hiking in Germany and driving on some crazy, tiny roads in Italy. Then I would think about the insurance I had and it kept me from worrying.

Unable to evaluate the adequacy of the plan except insofar as it afforded us the "peace of mind" provided by the belief that we would have been well covered had a claim situation arisen, which did not happen. In that sense, we got what we wanted and the price and convenience in setting it up was acceptable to us, and included no unexpected surprises or problems. We would gladly return to the same providers in the future when the need arises based on our experience, and in fact we were return customers this time, based on our prior satisfaction using this provider. We did not compare the prices with other websites offering similar services before committing to purchase our plan.

We have used Generali (under both the CSA; Generali names) policies for years without ever filing a claim and were satisfied. Now that we have gone through the difficult claims process, which took hours and involved some contradictory information from their online help, we'll switch to a company with a clearer description of the coverage offered. Other providers state very clearly what the medical and dental coverage includes, and we will choose between one of them for our upcoming trip. Since our credit card covers all the trip delay, lost and delayed luggage, etc, medical coverage is the important part of a trip that needs coverage from a travel insurance policy.

Thank you for your review. Although we can understand your wish to just wait until you return home to go for dental treatment, unfortunately no travel insurance provider including Generali would reimburse for dental treatment received once you are home.
We did contact Generali to explain the confusion in your policy wording.

Prior to the trip, I called with questions before I purchased, then called with questions AFTER I purchased. Everyone was accommodating and helpful. I did not need to file a claim...the trip was perfect, but having this coverage provided me with peace of mind.
