Had to contact my state’s Insurance Commission and the Wisconsin BBB to get fair treatment. Things are finally resolved after endless humiliation and hassle and only resolved thanks to the Insurance Commissioner and the BBB.

Thank you for your feed back.

Please see the response from AIG Travel Guard:

"I am happy to hear that your claim has been resolved, but I’m equally sorry to hear about your trip cancellation and the challenges you may have experienced during the claim process. All claims require supporting documentation of the claimed occurrence, and are fully adjudicated based on the coverage purchased and that supporting documentation. Again, we sincerely apologize for any delays in processing your claim. Your feedback is appreciated. Covid-19 has caused an influx of claims volume and we are making every effort to review and process claims as quickly as possible. We hope you are able to travel again soon! "

I had a bad experience of not “reading the fine print” and I had a weather hazard event that caused disruption in my trip and my claim was denied because I did not read the fine line of how those events are categorized. I felt it was useless policy and didn’t help me at all when I needed it.

“I am sorry to hear about your trip disruption! Our products provide coverage for specific unforeseen events, which are outlined and defined within the Policy of Insurance. If you have questions regarding coverage for the specific event you experienced, or if you wish to further discuss the outcome of your claim, a Claims Adjuster would be happy to speak with you! Again, I’m sorry there was not a more favorable outcome to your claim, and a Claims Adjuster would be happy to answer any questions. We also have licensed representatives available 24/7 in our World Service Center.”

This gave me great peace of mind.!I had a gap in my regular health coverage that coincided with my trip. Being able to purchase travel insurance meant I didn’t have to worry. Thankfully there was no need to use it, but I was glad for the peace of mind it gave!

Obviously the insurance companies are overwhelmed, but there was absolutely no way that I could contact AIG to ask a simple question. I filed the claim online but all of the forms asked for a claim number. Finally I decided to file without a claim number only to discover that the number is assigned only after all of the electronic documents are uploaded. This could have been easily handled by the customer care team, but after two weeks I still have no answer.

The claim was finally settled but my assessment remains the same. The company should have updated the website that assured me that my inquiry would be answered promptly. This expectation caused at least a week of unnecessary delay.

We had to cancel our trip on March 2nd due to illness. This was at the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic. It took a few weeks longer than usual for the claim to start being processed (which was very understandable). But once the agent opened the case, the process took about a week to complete. Then once fully approved, we received a check for the full amount of insurance claim in 3 days. Outstanding service!

The claim was for Trip cancellation due to illness.

The good part is that they spotted an inconsistency in the Doctor's Report and, instead of just denying the claim, they sent a clarification email with a form for the doctor to fill out. Once this form was returned to them, they paid promptly and fairly. So they actually care about their customers.

The bad part is that it took them 10 weeks just to look at the claim after I filed it. And most of that was before the Pandemic.

So expect to be treated fairly, but don't expect fast service.

We filed a claim after our infant daughter became ill on the eve of travel and we had to cancel the trip. AIG covered our claim, which was for non refundable lodging and the airline cancellation fee. Overall I was satisfied with the experience. My only complaints were that it took 2.5 months for the claim to be processed- I’m guessing part of this delay was due to the COVID pandemic, though. The other issue was that I did not receive any communication about the claim until I received a check in the mail. I did periodically check their website, but it would have been nice to get an email once the claim was approved. Overall, though, it was a fine experience and I would use it again.

However, I’m sorry to hear you were not entirely satisfied with the communication leading up to your paid claim. Although payment was eventually made under the plan, it was very difficult to get information on the status of the claim. This, of course, could be because of the Coronavirus situation, but attempts to call by phone were of no avail. I was on hold for over an hour snd had to finally give up. Emails were also not answered. It was only after I contacted InsureMyTrip and told them of my problem that I received payment.
