In business since 1926, Nationwide focuses on providing the best possible service for its customers. Nationwide travel insurance plans offer a range of innovative benefits for a variety of travel needs.
Although I did not need to file a claim, I felt confident knowing that I had this coverage. This plan provided better coverage at a lower price than the plan the cruise line offered. I will purchase this plan again.

This is my second time insuring my trip with this plan. Luckily I didn't have to use it this time, but I filed a small claim the first time I used it, and was very satisfied which is why I came back to this plan.

Didn’t have to use the insurance this time but i have used it in the past and it was great. It is nice not to have to worry if something does happen.

I use Insure my trip for every cruise we schedule. I like the option of being able to compare medical coverages for the amount of coverage, exclusions, pre-existing clause coverage, etc. The remainder of coverages appear to be similar across other insurance policies. . But to be able to compare medicall coverage, emergency evacuation, etc ar of utmost importance in purchasing a travel plan.
I would recommend Insure my trip to anyone. The prices beat those the cruise ships offer by far - and with increased coverage.

In the past, I had always used the same travel insurance to cover our cruises and, fortunately, never had to file a claim. The insurance seemed pretty generic and so I began a search for cruise specific policies. In my research, I came across Nationwide’s Choice Cruise Plan. The Choice Cruise Plan was a little bit more expensive than the policy I had been using, but the coverage was so much better that I thought the added expense was justified. As it turns out, I was right!
My husband and I cruised in December after hurricanes Irma and Maria caused widespread destruction in the Caribbean. One of our original ports of call was St. Maarten, but due to the devastation suffered on the island, Carnival changed our cruise itinerary from St. Maarten to Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic. After review of our policy, I called Nationwide to confirm itinerary change coverage. The claims department confirmed coverage and gave me specific instructions (over the phone and in a follow-up email) on what was needed to file a claim. I filed our claim on December 18, 2017, and had a check in hand on January 2, 2018. Nationwide Choice Cruise Plan will be the only travel insurance I use for future cruises, and it will always be the cruise insurance I recommend to family and friends.

BUYER BEWARE!!
We have been purchasing trip insurance through InsureMyTrip and Nationwide for years. On Dec. 16, our flight was canceled meaning we could not reach our cruise destination of San Juan and had to meet the cruise a day later in St. Kitts. I felt sure our trip interruption portion of our policy would cover the cost of missing one day of a very expensive holiday cruise. Wow, was I wrong. When I called Nationwide, I was told unless the airport is completely shut down, the cancellation of a flight is not covered. I was told there was no need to file a claim as no payment would be made. I called InsureMyTrip to speak with someone about this. I was told, "Sorry you're not happy. Have a great day."
Never Ever Again!!!
Read every word of the fine print.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to hear that your flight was cancelled and that your vacation was negatively impacted.
The Nationwide Essential plan is a "named peril" policy which means that the peril (covered reason) must be specifically listed in the plan or there is no coverage. This particular plan includes the following coverage for Trip Interruption:
"Weather that causes complete cessation of services of the Common Carrier for at least twenty-four (24) consecutive hours and prevents You from reaching Your destination."
We do have other policies available on our site that have specific cruise benefits, such as Missed Connection. In the future, if you are looking for guidance in selecting a travel insurance plan, please consider contacting our office at 800-487-4722 where a licensed representative would be happy to assist you.
I would highly recommend Nationwide for all of your travel insurance needs! It gave me peace of mind on my vacation knowing that if any problems occurred, my family would be covered. Should you need to file a claim, there is usually only one form to fill out and just a few supporting documents to provide. Customer service is great and claims are expedited within 15 days. Signing up for the plan on Insuremytrip.com was simple and fast, it took only a few minutes to complete the process once I chose a plan.
