It's tough to know just how good an insurance plan is when you haven't had to make a claim. The peace of mind is good, and I've felt for years that the Nationwide Choice Cruise plan has a very good level of coverage in the event of a significant emergency while out of the country, including emergency evacuation and medical coverage, while also maintaining a reasonable price tag.
We have been fortunate enough to not have to file a claim, but I feel reasonably confident that we'd be covered if we did, and we will buy this plan again for future cruises.

We thankfully didn't need to file a claim this time, but the previous trip we did and we'd had Nationwide. They made submitting all documents very easy. It took a while to pay out the claim, but not really that long in the scheme of things. They also communicated it would take a while to process the claim. We appreciated that and all the other communication we had during the process. It's partly why we picked them again for this trip and another we'll soon have. That and they had the best price and coverage we wanted. We will now always shop them first for our travel insurance needs.

I began the filing process back in August for a claim and only just got the final response/payment. It took multiple emails and phone calls to get this processed correctly. Multiple duplicated requests for paperwork. Incorrect amounts mailed. The process of having to email in response to a question and then wait two weeks till someone decides to respond with yet another request for duplicated information was an example of extremely poor customer service. Extremely inconvenient not to be able to talk directly to the processor and get the claim processed timely. No explanation with checks either until the very last one after I requested to speak with management and the person on the phone assured me they would assist with following up. Would never work with them again for this reason.

It is a bummer to know i spent closer to $1000 on an insurance plan that didn't have to cover a penny.
I'm sure i would have thought it was a great deal of i had needed to use of, but i venture to guess that 99 out of 100 clients never need a payout, yet it was compulsory to booking the cruise.
