We purchased the insurance because Nationwide is a company with a good reputation and it came highly recommended. We have used it several times in the past and have found it to be a good value for the coverage provided. We have not had cause to use it as of yet, so have not had experience with the claims process.

Fortunately, I did not need to use my trip insurance. I always recommend trip insurance as I was very glad that I had it the year that my grandmother passed away while my family was on vacation. This plan had everything that I needed and felt it was reasonable. Having insurance as a backup always helps ease my worries. Thanks so much.

We were to leave in the morning to travel to Miami for our cruise, my mom had to go to the ER and passed away with an aneurysm. The cruise line refunded the port fees, taxes and in room items, we had purchased, but not the $2000 in fares. Nationwide sent me the forms and I was able to get the information back to them within a week. The claim was processed and we were notified by secure email that our claim would be paid. Less than a week later, we received the checks for the amount. I will buy insurance from now on and from Nationwide!

A lot of the reviews come from folks who were fortunate enough not to have to use the plan, but I wasn't so lucky. I had to cancel my cruise (family medical). I cancelled early enough so there was no penalty from the cruise company, but I had another small deposit that was non-refundable. So I submitted my claim. I admit I was very thorough and included all supporting documents. After submitting my claim, I never heard anything. I think two months had gone by, so I emailed the claims department, and a lady from claims called me back the next day and told me my claim was approved, however, she wasn't sure why I hadn't been sent a check. She said she would have a check issued, and within a few days, the check showed up. So other than that little glitch, I am very happy with this policy.

This travel insurance plan boldly advertises "Travel Baggage Delay, 12+ hours, $100 max (per person)". However, after both of my checked bags were lost between connecting flights on the return trip, I called to make a claim so that I could purchase replacements for the necessary items in the missing bags. They then pointed out that baggage delay applies to the INBOUND flight only, and that this policy would do nothing (unless the baggage was completely unrecoverable after 8+ days).
This very significant detail was not shown on coverage information that was emailed to me, or on the mobile app, and is only tucked away inside parenthesis in the middle of page 9 of the 36-page fine print. This feels very deceptive, as they are only insuring baggage-delay for HALF of my trip in the fine print, while implying full coverage on the sales and summary pages, and everywhere else. This coverage restriction should be more prominently displayed. Buyer beware.

I Have been purchasing plans for years and never had to use any. this time my daughter fainted and had to be rushed to the on resort medical facility. thank god everything turned out ok but i had a $200 medical bill. Filed a claim, filled out papers and emailed to nationwide. Received check for full amount within 5 days. Easy and no hassles. I will continue to use nationwide and highly recommend it
