Our cruise canceled an Israeli port a week prior to departure. I filed a claim with Nationwide Mutual prior to leaving, and the check was awaiting me when I returned home. Customer service couldn't have been nicer to assist me in the claim.

I didn't have to use the plan, thank goodness, but it was good to know I was covered in the event I needed it...such a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that you were delayed during the trip. The large majority of comprehensive policies provide a Travel Delay benefit if you are delayed en route to or from the Covered Trip for 6 or more hours or 12 or more hours due a covered Hazard. In the future, please call us at 800-487-4722 so we can direct you to the policies that require a 3 or more hour or a 5 or more hour delay for the Travel Delay benefit. Please keep in mind, the covered reasons for Travel Delay may vary slightly from plan to plan. The Travel Delay benefit typically covers reasonable additional expenses such as hotel accommodations, meals, local transportation, and telephone calls.
When Delta wouldn't provide a document that was needed for my claim, the Nationwide Mutual agent offered to call Delta to get the information. The claim was paid so we're all good. That's above and beyond service in my book.

I purchased this plan in good faith. When our trip was changed to an earlier departure date, we were not informed of this change. Of course, we missed the trip and as soon as I found out I called the insurance company. They said the policy did not cover what had happened to us. They would not refund our money, even though the original trip date was 3 weeks away. They said they could transfer this plan to another trip but we would have to know where and when the next trip would be. We did not have another trip planed in the near future so we lost the cost of the insurance.
