Let me predicate this review by saying that I did not do my homework as I should have, nor did I study the plan thoroughly during the 10-day review period. I am not faulting this plan, as it is what it is, but I just wanted to let other customers know they need to look at the reimbursement figures carefully. In our case, we had a super-close airline connection between our destination city of Nagoya, Japan and Tokyo, where we needed to connect for our flight back to San Diego. There is only one flight available per day. As fate had it, an unexpected delay of our flight out of Nagoya almost made us miss the connecting flight in Tokyo, except for the fact that thankfully our Tokyo flight connection was also delayed. We saw in our policy that we were covered for a mere $150 had we missed our connecting flight. Obviously, we would have had to spend three times as much for an airport hotel and food for an overnight and wait until the next evening. It is questionable whether the airlines would have compensated us in part. Anyway, just a caveat: recreate every scenario and read your policy thoroughly.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. This review offers many friendly hints and reminders to our customers:
1) Please call us prior to purchasing a policy to ask questions about benefit limits and covered events. We are available 7 days a week by calling 800-487-4722.
2) Most comprehensive policies have 10-15 day review period. The review period allows customers to read and understand what the policy covers, or cancel the policy and receive a refund of premium. Service fees ranging between $5-$8 may apply.
3) Typically, travel delay benefits have a per day limit between $100-$300. However, we do offer plans that provide coverage up to the maximum limit listed under travel delay.
4) We offer several comprehensive plans that can cover missed connections for a flight to flight connection. Missed connection requires at least a 3 consecutive hour delay or cancellation due to a defined hazard, and can cover additional transportation expenses, reasonable accommodation and meal expenses, and reimburse the pre-paid and non-refundable unused portion of the trip. The benefit limit for missed connection varies from plan to plan, but some plans provide coverage up to $1,000 or more.
Nothing to review.....I didn't have to use the Nationwide Prime policy. Reviews are not really good until you have to make a claim. THEN you see how good the company really is.

Chose this coverage because of primary Baggage and Medical benefits. Having to make a claim is difficult enough, without the added hassle of dealing with multiple insurance companies.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. Depending upon which state the insured lives in, the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Prime plan plan offers primary coverage for Baggage Delay, Trip Delay, and Medical Expense benefits. Please keep in mind that there is a Coordination of Benefits for medical coverage on this plan. If the insured has a health insurance policy that works outside the United States, the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Prime may pay in excess of the primary health insurance policy.
The flight after a cruise was cancelled due to bad weather, and we got home a day late. As a result, we had a night in a hotel and four meals. We submitted the claim and the claim was approved and paid promptly.

For a small claim of $300, they sure made us jump through a lot of hoops to get it paid. It took about 6 weeks to receive the check. However, they did make good and paid the claim as stated in the policy however.
