We did not purchase a travel insurance policy until AFTER I had a heart attack. However, it made us realize there were a whole lot of things that could still happen that could make us lose our trip and our money, so we bought the policy understanding there were certain limitations. Nine days before we were to sail on Nov 25, my husband got a jury summons for Nov 26. We called to see about his getting out of jury duty and was told he probably could, but he would have to come in on the 26th to get out or face contempt charges. We had no choice but to cancel our cruise 5 days before sailing. There was absolutely no problem or questions. We sent in the documentation requested and before we would have been back home from the cruise, we received our checks in the mail. Of course we will book again after the holidays and we will take insurance out when we book the cruise so everything will be covered should we have to cancel or should we have trouble while at sea and need to be air lifted home. Thank you for such speedy, easy resolution to our problem. (Yes, my husband was excused--a day too late for us to sail.)

I was in Bimini when Tropical Storm/Hurricane Sandy breezed up the coast in 2012. This disrupted my WildQuest Trip as we could not go out on the boat for 2 days. My claim was handled professionally. Vicki called to request more information and once I provided it the whole process went smoothly.

This plan gave me peace of mind on my trip. The first day on my cruise a passenger had to be air lifted off the ship by the Coast Guard and all I could think about was the cost to him if he had no insurance. I highly recommend travel insurance.

Luckily, we didn't need to claim, so there's very little to say. The insurance served its purpose and, with all the Hurricane Sandy stories just before we left, we were glad to have that peace of mind. Cost was half of what the cruise line wanted to charge and included more.
