After waiting 10 weeks for a response.....our claim was denied. Apparently terminating the trip early due to a worldwide pandemic and borders closing down was not a good reason. Warren Buffet should be ashamed of himself!!! No matter how I justified our claim the rep said a pandemic is not included in any of their policies.
I'll be sure to find insurance elsewhere for our next vacation.

I have used Travelex several times to insure my adventures. Their plans are easy to purchase on line and they actually have customer service reps to assist in your purchase and answer questions. Their website makes it easy to compare plans with different companies so you can choose based on ratings, price, and coverages. Fortunately I have never had a claim so I cannot speak to their accountability.

In my opinion you never know how good a plan really is unless you have to use it. I had piece of mind and thankfully nothing bad happened on the trip, so I really don't know how good it was. It would be nice to be able to get some sort of a break in price if you have a history of no claims.

First time purchasing Travel/Trip Insurance, and was very satisfied with the coverage offered and cost. It was a great "peace of mind" component to our trip. Didn't need to file a claim, but it was comforting to know something was in place if the unexpected happened.

We had scheduled a very expensive trip to the Arctic, but I had open heart surgery instead, which was a big surprise. Travelex was great and fairly prompt in paying the full amount of our coverage after a phone call or two.
Even though we didn't use it, I would strongly advise others to purchase cancel for any reason coverage and remind them that it is only good up to three days before the trip. Life is very unpredictable and there are a lot of exclusions in regular travel insurance, so buy the extra coverage.

In the policy details, which were sent to you on August 31, 2019 when the policy was purchased, it explains all the eligible reasons for trip cancellation, including the terms, limitations, and exclusions. Which includes the General Exclusion “(d) any government regulation or prohibition”.
Having said the above, we do empathize and recognize that coronavirus has created a difficult situation for travelers.
We recommend talking to your Traveler Suppliers about transferring any monies paid to a new trip. Additionally, it may be possible to obtain a Date Transfer on your policy, which allows you to apply the plan to another trip, in the future. If you would like to apply a One-Time Date Transfer to your policy, please contact us at [email protected], so we can help process the cancellation of your claim and apply a One-Time Date Transfer to your policy.
It is important to remember that insurance is highly regulated. Claims need to be processed according to the policy details and based on the documentation submitted to the Claim Administrator.
