I have a question about this subject!

Question:

My sister lives in Olympia, Washington and her daughter and family live in Monroe, Washington, whom would travel together. My daughter and her children and I live in Susanville, ca , whom would travel together. We would all meet on the coast in Oregon to a vacation home. If anyone has an emergency during the travel time or when we get there how do we protect ourselves from losing our money. And if I was the one paying for the trip to make it simple how does that work?

Answer:

Since you live in separate states, you would need to buy separate policies due to the different insurance laws in each state. If one traveler has to cancel for a covered reason, all travelers who are insured are covered to cancel as well, as you are considered traveling companions as well as family members. You each would insure your own portion of the trip cost on your own policy, please keep in mind. The number one covered reason for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption is the unforeseen illness or injury of you or a traveling companion that deems you unfit to travel, by order of a licensed physician; or the unforeseen hospitalization or death of a family member. To see all of the covered reasons to cancel or interrupt your trip, please click on the dollar amount that appears under the words "Trip Cancellation" when viewing a quote.
