I have a question about this subject!

Question:

My largest trip expense is a fully refundable plane ticket. Do I include this in costs to be covered, or should I only get a quote on other costs, such as deposit on hotels, short haul flights, and eurail costs?
- JY,

Answer:

You can insure all prepaid non-refundable travel arrangements paid for prior to departure from home. Any travel arrangements that are fully refundable in cash does not need to be included in the Trip Cost you are insuring. Only non-refundable travel arrangements can be insured.

Question:

How do I get quotes for annual trip insurance from your company?
- ArtC,

Answer:

We do provide annual medical policies for trips that take place outside of your home country. Typically, the trips cannot be longer than 70 days per trip with most plans. To obtain a quote, please fill out the quote form with your very first trip's details and once you arrive on the results page, please click on the button labeled “medical” on the bottom left and view our plans that are labeled “multi trip". Our multi-trip medical plans provide both medical and medical evacuation coverage.

Question:

Is there a cancel-for-any-reason policy ?
- Hema,
03/11/2020

Answer:

You would need start a quote and enter your information to see available plans. Standard comprehensive travel insurance policies do not cover fear of travel. If fear of travel is the main concern, you would want to purchase a comprehensive plan with optional Cancel For Any Reason coverage selected. There are some eligibility requirements for this coverage, such as insuring 100% of pre-paid, non-refundable trip costs, purchasing your coverage within 10-21 days of your initial trip payment, and you must cancel your trip no less than 2 days prior to departure. Cancel For Any Reason can reimburse a portion, typically up to 50%-75%, of your trip cost depending on the plan purchased. A policy with Cancel For Any Reason can cost an additional 40%-60% more than a standard policy, is not available in all states, and eligibility requirements may differ by company.

Question:

Do i add the cost of mileage tickets in the cost of my trip? Are mileage tickets reimbursable? How does that work?
- MaryD,
11/16/2019

Answer:

The value of points or miles cannot be insured. You can insure the taxes and fees you paid to redeem the points or miles, as long as the taxes and fees are prepaid and non-refundable prior to departure. Most providers will cover up to a specified amount for the re-deposit fee to redeposit the points or miles back in to your account if you had to cancel for a covered reason.

As long as your travel arrangements are prepaid and non-refundable, you can insure these costs. The number one covered reason for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption is the unforeseen illness or injury of you or a traveling companion that deems you unfit to travel, by order of a licensed physician; or the unforeseen hospitalization or death of a family member.
