Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
We usually buy the Nationwide Essential travel insurance at the same time we make tour/travel reservations. Although tour companies offer similar coverage, it usually costs more. A couple of times we have needed to adjust the dates of coverage a little (i.e. extended the trip or airline schedule changes) and were able to modify coverage dates fairly easily with no additional cost. Fortunately, we have not needed to file a claim for the 6 or 8 trips we have insured, so I can't comment on the claim process. Overall, the Nationwide Essential Plan seems adequate and flexible enough to allow us to customize of coverage to meet our needs.

The worst travel insurance company EVER! When I realized that the plan did NOT cover complications from normal pregnancy I tried to cancel the plan within the ten day grace period. It took me over 6 hours on the phone, had to file no less than four exception requests which went unanswered for weeks. The time it took to deal with an exception requesting to cancel put me outside the ten day grace period so they refused it again. I cancelled all insurance with them and found a more reputable company.

Absolutely do not get this insurance. Our family got Covid on a trip to Ecuador. I called the HTH Worldwide Trip Protector customer service as soon as we got a positive home test to see what we needed to do. I was told that we did not need to get a test at a doctor's office or pharmacy to prove that we had Covid. I was told that because of the highly contagious nature of Covid, that no proof was necessary. Now HTH refuses to cover our claim and we are out almost $2,000.
