Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
I think that travel insurance is too expensive compared to the risk assumed by the insurance company. I have bought travel insurance for several trips and never had a claim - and don't know of anyone that has ever filed a claim. May gamble and do without it on next trip.

My luggage was lost for the first three days of a 28 day trip. When I called, I was told the lost luggage benefit wouldn't be available until the airline declared my luggage lost which could take up to a month. The delayed baggage benefit is woefully inadequate for this situation. In the future, I will look for coverage that declares luggage lost after a reasonable period of time (2 - 3 days) or won't get coverage at all as this was useless to me. How could I replace 28 days of travel needs for $250?
My assumption was that I would receive the $250 for my lost time, additional costs etc. and was told that I needed to submit receipts for actual costs. Had my luggage not arrived on day 3, I would have lost an entire vacation day replacing items with no compensation for that lost time.
The person I spoke with about my lost luggage was very helpful and explained everything well. The coverage was just inadequate.

Our baggage delay benefit is only intended to reimburse clients for necessities needed to get through a day or two while their luggage is located. It is actual insurance and not an inconvenience benefit which is why receipts are required and at 12 hours is one of the shorter time periods before the coverage is effective. Our lost luggage benefit is more robust, but does require that the baggage actually be declared lost. Our benefits do work in the same manner as most in the industry.

i did not have the need, thank god, to use the coverage this time. however i have had medical emergencies before abroad so welll know about them. the coverage seemed good and fair in price. i have to say i just use insure my trip because they have a wide amount of policiies on offer, explain them well and i like their caring and knowledgeable sales people. so far so good.

I have purchased Berkshire Hathaway Travel Insurance two times now for extended trips to Europe. Both times, I have not had to use its’ coverage. Still, the piece of mind on the flights and the coverage that I got was worth it.
The policy is very reasonable in price which included the medical emergency air home if needed...and the added medical coverage to cover me more than just Medicare plan at
80 % that I have for foreign trips ...it picks up some simple emergency costs if needed ...
YES, I would recommend Berkshire Hathaway insurance to anyone traveling abroad...AND, may I add...They are super with pre-contact via phone...! ALSO, prior to trip, they contact you via email with policy and coverage for you to have on hard copy with phone contact number if You need them on your Trip.
While I have not needed to use the Insurance on any of my trips. Thankfully...The peace of mind at a reasonable cost is appreciated Berkshire...thank you.

Easy to purchase this insurance on line. We have used insuremytrip on three occasions. Fortunately, never needed to file a claim. Peace of mind worth it!
