This is my 18th purchase of travel insurance from Insuremytrip.com. I've only needed it once... That bill was $279,000.00 covered by my health insurance plan and nearly $14,000 of uncovered expenses paid out within 10 days by my travel insurance.
Thankfully, I didn't need it this time either, but I'd never leave home without it, EVER! And neither should you!
BTW, took the Platinum plan rather than the basic coverage because Medicare does not cover any medical expenses outside of the United States and while Medicare supplement plans sometimes provide a once in a lifetime time $50,000 maximum payment, see my bill above to understand why that's useless!! TRAVEL INSURANCE! Don't leave home without it.

Once the claim got to the right organization, it was processed quickly and promptly. But the email address on insuremytrip.com for submitting a claim was wrong. After several months sitting with no action, the claim was denied (they didn't have the right policy documents), and then they decided it should have been sent to a different claims processor. Once it got there, everything proceeded smoothly.

We apologize for the confusion in filing your claim. After you purchased your policy, American Modern Home insurance Company transferred their claims handling to another company. We apologize for not advising you in a more timely basis.
we had to file a claim for baggage delay and baggage damage (loss). after few initial back and forth - and waiting 20 days after sending final documents they requested, we did receive a refund minus refund received from the airline. the reason i put 4 stars is that there is no way to check claim status/details online - you have to call them. Also claim submission is done via email.
I think reviewing insurance plans only matters from those who had to file the claim, this is when insurance plan is truly tested for its "goodness".

Comprehensive plans may appear "pricey" since premiums are generally based on the traveler's age, trip cost and length of trip. However, we do offer a wide range of products. In the future, you may wish to call us at (800) 487-4722 for assistance in quoting and purchasing a policy.
I am glad I purchased trip insurance for a once in life time 2 week trip to Italy. Luckily nothing prevented us from taking the trip and we didn't have any issues during the trip so we didn't need to file a claim. It would be nice if you use the same company several times for different trips that they provide you some type of rebate or cash back if you don't need to file any claims.

Once again we did not need to use the insurance but, it feels real good knowing it is there. I have filed a claim only once in the last ten years. It was paid as filed in about two weeks after the paperwork was submitted.
