Thank you for your feedback on the policy. After cancelling your trip, you contacted AXA Assistance USA to cancel your travel insurance policy. The AXA Assistance USA Gold plan for residents of Illinois has a 10 day free look period, "You may cancel insurance under the Policy by giving Us or Our Administrator written notice within 10 days from the Effective Date. If You do this, We will refund Your premium paid provided You have not filed a claim under the Policy."
Unfortunately, your request to cancel the policy came outisde of the 10 day free look period so you were unable to receive a full refund of premium. However, AXA Assistance USA provided a pro-rated refund of premium under the following clause, "You have the right to cancel the Policy at any time by giving advance notice to Our Agent or Us (stating when thereafter the cancellation shall be effective). We will refund any unearned premium to You within 10 days of cancellation."

Overall the AXA Assistance USA Gold plan was very good and fairly priced. We had a luggage claim which was handled to our satisfaction. However, the processing time was slower than expected.

My wife had medical problems and required hospitalization as well as a medical return flight. Dealing with AXA to get moved to a different hospitalization and then to get a medical flight home was a nightmare. They said we just need the attending physician to confirm that she is stable enough to fly but not strong enough to go on a commercial flight. That was done an then seven days later they were able to arrange a flight. The company that flew us home said that when they were finally contacted it took twenty minutes to put the pieces together, not seven days.
It almost appears that they were just waiting and hoping that the patient would either die or become too weak to fly on a medical flight.
In addition, they do not seem to have people capable of speaking foreign languages. They should not be in business.

I was thankful to not have a reason to file a claim so I cannot address service from that aspect. However, this was a big trip and having AXA Assistance gave me great peace of mind throughout our travels. I plan to use them for all future travel plans starting today as I purchase a policy for our next venture!

Our first time ever to buy travel insurance. Picked AXA after reading reviews on InsureMyTrip. We were unable to travel so we submitted the paperwork AXA required and filed a claim for our trip costing $22,000. About two weeks later, AXA notified us that our claim was approved and mailed us a check. Look no further.

Since I made no claim on my AXA Assistance USA Platinum plan, I can't give a complete review; however I was completely satisfied with the plan cost and coverage. The piece of mind I had knowing that I was covered should an emergency arise made for a worry free trip.
