Thanks to the blizzard in the northeast and all flights home cancelled ,we had to stay in Disney World two extra nights. After calling CSA and hearing that we had coverage for trip extension,we were able to relax and make the best of it.The agent on the phone explained our coverage ,what we needed to have such as receipts for food, hotel, transportation and how to file when we returned home. The claim was easy to file and we were paid promptly for the hotel and meals we were not expecting to have until we could get back home.

It is hard to evaluate insurance coverage until a claim is filed. This is the first time that my wife and I had purchased a travel insurance plan. It was certainly a good feeling knowing that we had insurance just in case.

Ultimately, one can evaluate insurance coverage only when one needs it. Thankfully, I did not need to make a claim, but an issue did come up: At the very last minute, the cruise line completely changed the itinerary of ports being visited. I was left wondering whether this change affected my coverage?

I was not able to receive a Visa for Brazil in time for my cruise. Therefore, I had to fly to Buenos Aires which caused me to miss several days on the cruise. I had to pay for a new airfare and pay $744.00 for an air cancellation fee. (**first flight) After calling about my trip insurance coverage none of it was covered. Wow, very disappointing!

As you discovered, there is no coverage for Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption or Travel Delay if you do not receive your Visa in time for your trip which is why there was no reimbursement for your increased costs. In the future, you can read through the covered reasons to cancel or interrupt your trip in any plan on our website by first comparing your quotes then clicking on the dollar amount of Trip Cancellation coverage. You with then receive a pop-up window with a list of all the covered reasons. Economical plan with good medical coverage for international travel. Plan was purchased as a medical only plan which had better benefits and lower cost than typical medical plan.

Most of the other tour participants in our group had not purchased trip insurance, but when we were stranded in the Dallas airport due to the tornado and storms, we knew everything would turn out all right because of InsureMyTrip and the CSA Travel Protection Custom plan we had purchased. Fortunately, we were able to get on a flight within 24 hours, but others couldn't get out for three and four days, missing half of an eight-day tour of Guatemala and spending their own money for hotel stays.
