As in all trip insurance policies, no matter who the underwriter, there are gaps for specific circumstances. But overall, the Nationwide Mutual Choice Cruise policy covered 95% of what I wanted. Since I didn't make a claim, I can't comment on claim handling.

The plan was expensive for the coverage received and I was disappointed my local agent could not handle writing the policy. I was also disappointed that I received no discount since we have house, car, boat, life and umbrella policies with Nationwide. Where's the benefit and quid pro quo for giving all our business to Nationwide?

The Nationwide Mutual Insurance Luxury Cruise is an upper echelon plan with robust benefit limits, and the premium reflects this. Unfortunately, Nationwide is unable provide a discount on travel insurance for multi policy customers due to insurance regulations. This was the first time we filed a claim...it was for an Itinerary Change. After just a little bit of paperwork which was simple and straightforward, we had our checks!
The Nationwide Mutual Choice Cruise plan is a cruise specific plan and covers many things that others don't such as the itinerary change. I would purchase again in a heart beat! Very simple claims process!

Universal Cruise
On all of my cruises, I purchased insurance for possible travel delays and medical. On this trip to Australia, I built in some pre and post time so that medical was my major concern. Nationwide Mutual Insurance Universal Cruise Plan seemed to offer the medical coverage I was looking for. Then while we were on the cruise, my wife became sick and had to go to the ship's infirmary. When we returned, I filed a claim for the medical expenses; Nationwide reimbursed me for the costs. The claim process was straight forward and the claim was processed very quickly.
Although this was the first time I have used Nationwide, I would use them again and also recommend them to others.

My disappointment stemmed from the fact that there was such a cost difference due to age with no concern for my health. Oh well, this getting older means getting discriminated on a whole new level. Your Nationwide Mutual Essential coverage was fine.

Always great to sail with insurance. My granddaughter tore cartilage in her foot and we were fortunate the doctor cleared her to sail. Had we had to cancel I am sure we would have been covered.
