TravelSafe Classic
I purchased the TravelSafe Classic plan through InsureMyTrip for a planned trip to Antarctica with my sister. Unfortunately we had to cancel the trip a month before our travel when our mother got sick and was moved into hospice care. We completed all the forms and compiled all the documentation, which took days and amounted to well over a hundred pages of paperwork. We submitted everything then used their online claim status form to track the progress.

My claim was marked as received and printed, then nothing changed. After over a month with no progress I called TravelSafe and the agent scoffed at my request, said there was no possible way to expedite my claim, and I'd just have to wait.

Two months in, still nothing had changed, while my sister's identical claim had gone through several rounds of supplemental information requests. I called again and this time the agent was sympathetic and said she'd expedite my claim (so it is possible?).

Two weeks later, 2.5 months since receiving my claim, STILL nothing had changed. This time I contacted InsureMyTrip. They responded the next day asking for my claim number, and within a week they had negotiated the full payment of my claim. Meanwhile my sister is still waiting on her claim.

In the end TravelSafe paid out my claim, so I'm mostly satisfied with the plan and coverage. But their claim service was terrible, and I'm not sure how long I would have waited for reimbursement - or even if I would have been reimbursed - if it weren't for the help of InsureMyTrip. So the high ratings here are really thanks to and for InsureMyTrip. Thanks!

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Plus
Unfortunately, we had to cancel our trip because our beloved cat got terribly ill less than a week before we were to leave. Since I cannot find any trip insurance that covers pet illness/emergencies as a covered reason for canceling or interrupting a trip (which I do not understand as pets are family members and they can have emergencies too), I always look for the "cancel for any reason" benefit on policies, and this one also had the "interrupt for any reason" benefit. Luckily we realized we had to cancel in enough time to be covered as I found out that even though we had "cancel for any reason" coverage, if it had been less than two days (I think) before the beginning of our trip we wouldn't have been covered, so check your policy details for this "hole" in coverage time. I believe that there are some gaps in time for "interrupt for any reason," too.

At any rate, when I called C&F they were very responsive, helpful, and pleasant. I was able to email them all of the documents they needed for my claim and I got a nice phone call several weeks later letting me know the claim was approved and the check was on its way. I ended up buying the exact same policy when we re-booked our trip after our kitty passed away since we had a good experience with this company.

Fortunately I had trip insurance as the airline changed the date of departure and I could not go on that date and although that carrier gave me full refund; the connecting local carrier would not and that’s where the insurance came into play and refunded me for that portion.

I didn't have to use the insurance so don't know how it would turn out to be had I needed to use it....but it was great because it instantly sent a letter for the embassy for visa application and meets all the specific requirements for Shengen visa. And the price is pretty good too. :)

Global Alert! Preferred Plus
Claim and paperwork submitted October 4th, 2017. Final ck written by Trip Mate, Global Alert's underwriters dated January 12, 2018. Postmark on envelope for that check - February 7, 2018! Insure my trip provided an agent, Gail, who was fabulous in contacting Trip Mate ( aka GLobal Alert ) several times on my behalf, always keeping me informed. However, for their claims administrator to send payment in the incorrect currency after reviewing every bit of travel documentation, including receipts, is an indication of poor training, lack of attention to detail and of course prolonged reimbursement. Bottom line: The company made more than my premium be delaying payment of a legitimate claim. They also seem to be very understaffed.
