Generali Global Assistance Premium
Many of our flights were delayed. One required us to stay over night in JFK airport. When I called to ask about our travel delay benefit to pay for hotel, transportation, and food the phone representative told me there was no coverage if the delay resulted from airport construction. Upon repeated questioning she finally said we did have coverage. Other than this, the coverage seems to be a good value.

    Each policy will define certain Hazards that would be covered under the travel delay benefit. CSA states under this definition that any delay of a common carrier (including inclement weather) would be covered. For a delay to be covered at an airport, it must result from an airline or common carrier directly.

AXA Assistance USA Gold
Fortunately, we did not have to use this insurance. I did find it rather expensive, although I suppose if we had had to use it and it had performed as promised I would not have been concerned about the cost. Of course, like all insurance companies it is all about profit and not necessarily a real service, so it is important to keep that in mind.

GoReady Insurance Choice
Was in Nepal preparing to return when the Qatar situation developed. Contacted April customer care and they were very responsive and followed up. Fortunately no issues and no claim necessary and glad customer care followed up.

Refund Policy is not clear...April insurance does not clarify that only a partial premium refund is available after a certain time frame. Customer service made a false comment regarding that there is no lookover period in NY. It is usually between 10-15 days after doing my own research.

    The refund policy is located in your certificate and reads as follows:
    'Cancellation by the Insured:
    You have the right to cancel the Policy at any time by giving advance notice to Our Administrator or Us (stating when thereafter the
    cancellation shall be effective). We will refund any unearned premium to You within 10 days of cancellation.'

    Per our records, the pro-rated refund amount was confirmed as a reply to your cancellation request email, on 5/2/17 at 5:03pm EST. The pro-rated refund was the difference from the paid vs earned premium of the policy used from 2/6/17 (Effective Date of Policy) to 4/30/17 (Cancellation Request).
