This plan provide us a good balance of cost and coverage. However, we did not experience any event that would cause us to file a claim. It was significantly lower in price than the insurance the tour company offered. Insuremytrip makes it easy to compare and purchase insurance.

Fortunately, we didn't have to use the plan, but we had great piece of mind that we could be evacuated in a medical emergency from China. Secondary was the safety of our monetary investment in our trip. The cost was half the price quoted by our tour operator.

I guess the old saying still holds true, namely that you get what you pay for. This policy appeared to be a good value, but the coverage was less than expected. Specifically, I lost a day of touring because of a traveling companion's medical problems and expected a reimbursement for that day's loss. Instead, I was informed that no benefits would be paid. The plan apparently says that for an all-inclusive tour like we were on, pro-rata benefits are payable only if an, "entire day, including the overnight accommodations, must be missed." Although we spent our touring time in the local hospital's Emergency Room, that is not sufficient. Some of that is my fault for not reading ALL the FINE print, but what is NOT my fault is that it took 6 months for them to reject the claim. This is, therefore, not a company I would be quick to ever use again.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that you were dissatisfied with your claim experience. The claims administrator is required to adjudicate claims based on the terms and conditions of the policy.
We do want you and your fellow customers to be aware that InsureMyTrip offers a Customer Advocate Program. Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. This travel insurance plan boldly advertises "Travel Baggage Delay, 12+ hours, $100 max (per person)". However, after both of my checked bags were lost between connecting flights on the return trip, I called to make a claim so that I could purchase replacements for the necessary items in the missing bags. They then pointed out that baggage delay applies to the INBOUND flight only, and that this policy would do nothing (unless the baggage was completely unrecoverable after 8+ days).
This very significant detail was not shown on coverage information that was emailed to me, or on the mobile app, and is only tucked away inside parenthesis in the middle of page 9 of the 36-page fine print. This feels very deceptive, as they are only insuring baggage-delay for HALF of my trip in the fine print, while implying full coverage on the sales and summary pages, and everywhere else. This coverage restriction should be more prominently displayed. Buyer beware.

It is industry standard to cover baggage delay on the outward journey only to reimburse you for the expense of necessary personal effects while you are traveling.
