I purchased the insurance plan to cover the total cost of my trip in case I couldn't attend. That was my main intention for this policy.
I experienced a terrible toothache while aboard on my cruise. The pain was so terrible I went to a dentist in Cozumel Mexico. I was charged $500.00 dollars that resulted in no relief from my pain. I would only wish future policies might include Dental Insurance if seen by a doctor. I'd recommend all to purchase dental if presented in a manor if one is seen buy a physician.

Thankfully I didn't have a need to file a claim. However, as I was traveling to Iran and didn't know until a week before the trip if we'd actually be going, I was grateful to have coverage. Also, my luggage was 2 1/2 days delayed, so it was good to know I had extra protection there as well. Since Iran does not have diplomatic relations with the US, I felt the coverage was pretty critical. Staff from insure my trip were extremely helpful in answering questions. I was looking for a plan that would cover medical costs in the case of a terrorist incident, and after speaking with a representative, realized that this plan would not do that. That is really the only reason I needed travel insurance, as my current medical insurance would cover most other situations.

According to the description of coverage, the MEDEX TravMed Abroad plan excludes coverage related to war or any act of war, whether declared or not, civil disturbance or insurrection.
