Generali Global Assistance Preferred
I had to cancel my trip because my mom (who was not going on the trip) had a stroke before the trip commenced and required my care extending into the time of the trip and beyond. It was a very expensive trip so I was very relieved when Generali approved my trip cancellation claim. This has been a very stressful time and it certainly helped to have this claim to through. My only criticism is that I found their online claims processing tool very difficult to use and ended up filing a paper claim instead. Overall, a very good result though and I'd recommend this company.

Travelex Travel Basic
Usually I buy from a different insurance company & thought this one would be good for close to home travel. I asked questions of the Insure my Trip rep, who was very nice, but I either asked wrong questions or got incorrect answers. For example I had to travel thru San Juan & asked if earthquake interfered with my travel & I couldn't leave or get to my other island would I be covered & Travelex rep said NO only for a natural disaster happening at my home area & also wouldn't cover trip interruption either. There were more negative answers re coverage making this a worthless purchase for me. Luckily I didn't have to use it even though tense moments due to rain & wind whether I could leave SJO to get to my final destination.

    Thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns on InsureMyTrip.

    The Travel Basic plan that you purchased is a Named Peril Policy, which means that the policy lists all reasons for coverage, and if the reason is not listed, then coverage does not apply.

    While Natural Disasters at your destination are not covered under Trip Cancellation or Trip Interuption, you would be eligible for the Trip Delay benefit if a Natural Disaster causes a delay in your trip. The Trip Delay benefit would help reimburse for reasonable expenses; such as hotels, food, or transportation while you are delayed.

    We do offer two different plans which have different levels of benefit amounts and reasons to cancel or interrupt a trip. For example, our Travel Select plan offers coverage for Trip Cancellation or Interuption if your destination is made uninhabitable by a natural disaster.

    It is important to read the policy details that are sent with every quote and after the purchase of the plan to understand the policy benefits. We hope that this helps to clarify the benefits and differences between the two travel insurance plans that we offer.

AIG Travel Travel Guard Protect Assist
I've bought travel insurance for years "just in case." Well, this time we needed it. My husband broke one ankle and sprained the other while we were traveling in Cambodia. He ended up visiting two hospitals in Cambodia, and spending several nights as an inpatient at the wonderful Royal Phnom Penh Hospital. The hospital contacted AIG and helped us fill out forms and told us to keep copies of itemized receipts. (We paid out of pocket and were reimbursed.) My husband needed a nurse to fly with him back to the USA from Cambodia and the insurance handled all of that, rebooking flights so my husband and the nurse flew business class so my husband's legs could remain elevated during the flight. I can't imagine having to navigate all this on my own. Filing our claim and uploading documents was easy, as was checking on their status. We were reimbursed for all expenses, thanks to keeping all of our receipts. We are definitely getting AIG travel insurance our next trip, though I'm hoping we don't actually need to use it again!

Generali Global Assistance Standard
Very user friendly web site and very easy to select options for amount of insurance desired. A reassuring feeling knowing that my spouse would be provided for in the event the insurance had to be used.

Didn't use the insurance...true for each trip so the cost and value are impossible to determine. At this point, it was an unneeded expense.

GeoBlue Voyager Choice
I lost a crown during my trip, filed a claim. GeoBlue Voyager Choice Plan was very quick to explain that it was not covered- did not bother to other any help at all. Makes me wonder what would be done for something serious!

We were able to enjoy our cruise knowing we had insurance covering issues from luggage to health. It was definitely money well spent. Thanks. Our luggage didn't arrive until an hour before leaving port due to a room change. While we were stressed about it, we knew any delay or missing luggage would have been insured by this policy.
