AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold
The plan almost covered everything I would have needed covered, just not 100%. Thank goodness I did not need to make any sort of a claim, but lastly, I wish the rates were not so high. I'm sure so many more people would get this coverage, if it was more affordable. It is definitely not cheap. But glad I had it.

    Please also note that coverages are per person. Trip Cancellation does provide 100% reimbursement up to your total trip cost if you must cancel your trip for a covered reason.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
I always carry insurance for my trips and never had to use it until this trip. I had to take 2 different planes back home and the 1st one was delayed therefore I missed the 2nd one. I had to stay until the next day to get flight home. I called insurance to make a claim. They told me I have to file paperwork and get all receipts to submit to insurance. With everything that went wrong for me, I'm lucky I didn't lose my luggage. I was under the impression that the insurance grants you $150 per day up to 6 days for the trouble I went through. Next time I'll just keep my money and use it if needed.

    Thank you for your review. We did reach out to Nationwide who advised us that you did call to file a claim because you were delayed leaving Cancun so you missed your flight. Since you did not incur any loss, Nationwide advised you that there would be no reimbursement under Travel Delay. The 150 USD is not a flat payment but is meant to reimburse you for Covered Expenses including:
    "(a) Any reasonable additional expenses incurred;
    (b) An Economy Fare from the point where the You ended Your Covered Trip to a destination where You can catch up to the Covered Trip; or
    (c) A one-way Economy Fare to return You to Your originally scheduled return destination."

    Although you were disappointed in the Nationwide response, we hope that you will considering using them again in the future now that you understand reimbursement under Travel Delay coverage.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Choice Cruise
Always travel with travel insurance which I have never had to used until this cruise. On this cruise I fell off the ship and had to have 4 stitches. My disappointment with this policy is that it did not cover eye glasses. My eye glasses were severely damaged during the fall and had to be replaced. Good thing I always travel with an extra pair of glasses.
It only took several weeks after submitting the paperwork to get reimbursement. Was able to submit electronically.

Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection ExactCare
I missed a connecting flight because of bad weather and had to file for trip interruption to cover a re-booked flight along with new travel expenses. It took over two months but their were complications out of Berkshire's control (the first airline wasn't exactly easy to get a hold of) but in the end I was reimbursed for everything I had submitted.

Would not travel without a policy! Too
Many things can happen. On a previous trip to Grand Caman. My paraplegic nephew broke his femur in a fall from his wheelchair. Our policy sent a nurse from Miami who oversaw his medical care and arranged and accompanied his transfer back New York and then home to Phildelphia for his care and treatment.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
I did file a small claim due to a ferry cancellation (weather related) in Greece which required an additional unplanned hotel night as well as missing one day of a prepaid apartment at our next destination. I probably provided more information than necessary when filing the claim but had no issue receiving compensation for my additional expenses. It is important for anyone taking travel insurance to SAVE all receipts in the event they do need to file a claim. The more documentation you have the easier it is to get compensation. Save all receipts including airline tickets, etc. until you are home and are sure you will not need to fill a claim.
