It's insurance. Fortunately, I did not need it. But I have a travel companion who did on a different trip and between her insurance and mine, we suffered no out-of-pocket expenses. That experience confirmed my position that I will not travel without it, particularly the medical and evacuation coverage. I always refer InsureMyTrip.com to anyone who asks me about trip insurance.

We did call customer service from the Azores since the airline told us they were on strike and we should reschedule our departure home. We were given the information we needed to make a decision on how we would proceed. As it turned out, our flight was delayed but not cancelled.

I thought the site was thorough in showing me several insurance options for my vacation and needs and first payer vs second explaining and showing me the policies to read prior to me purchasing Travelex which covered all my needs at a reasonable price. I will be using them for future travels.
