Good product and coverages. A person on our trip had a serious medical event and couldn’t travel home in the middle of the trip putting herself at risk. She had no insurance coverage. I think she will be purchasing a policy for future trips.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
This is our first experience with Generali Global, and we were pleased with their coverage. Even though we didn't find it necessary to file a claim (thank God!), it provided us with one very important item PEACE OF MIND!! And we thank Generali Global for the peace it provided us.

I think that travel insurance is too expensive compared to the risk assumed by the insurance company. I have bought travel insurance for several trips and never had a claim - and don't know of anyone that has ever filed a claim. May gamble and do without it on next trip.

We returned from our trip one day ahead of schedule so clearly there was trip interruption.
My husband became ill and our doctor saw him the morning after returning home and filled out necessary paperwork. He was put on blood pressure medication.
Because he was ill and unable to drive home (4 hours), we were fortunate to have our innkeeper obtain a driver for us to bring us back to NY. Another driver followed to take our driver back to MA.(Cost: $500)
This expense was not prepaid (a reason cited for not covering the $500). In emergency situations, one cannot prepay unforeseen costs!
The policy pays for an economy plane ticket home, however, we traveled by automobile, so the cost of returning hime should have been covered!!

Comprehensive plans are designed to cover as many risks as possible, but it is limited in regards to what expenses are deemed reimbursable. Unfortunately, it was determined that the expenses incurred for the interrupted trip did not fall within the scope of Trip Interruption for this specific plan. Did not have to use. So up front looked to be a good plan. Would most likely use again. I would like to be able to preprint forms for treatment ahead of time, because with the confusion of an injury having forms readily accessible during treatment, would help with not having to correspond with medical staff when leaving vacation for home.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Prime
My claim was for medical trip cancellation and was essentially ignored for a number of weeks, even after repeated calls. They used a technicality to avoid reimbursement for airfare. They eventually reimbursed for the expenses of 2 hotel nights and the trip deposit and an airline administrative fee, but it took on the order of two to three months. There claims process is by paper form.
