I thought the plan was good but when I found out that I paid almost $90 for a 10 day trip and my bag got lost on the way back, I called and they told me that delayed baggage coverage was only for the way there which I obviously didn't know before. The customer service rep for AXA wasn't very friendly about it either. Luckily my bag turned up and I didn't need to make a claim. But I already paid for another policy for AXA for my next trip in October (previously paid for) so I probably won't use that company next year when I travel or I will read the fine print and pay less!

We do suggest reviewing the policy certificate, before and after you purchase a policy, to ensure you know what your policy does and does not cover. There are plans available that do offer baggage coverage to and from your destination, but as you know not all do. We had a 4-hour weather delay in Copenhagen for a flight to Bergen Norway. We were concerned that the flight might be canceled forcing us to remain in Copenhagen over night. Having the insurance as a backstop helped allay our concerns.

I was glad I didn't have to use it, but it was comforting to know that we had it anyway. No one likes to pay for something they don't use, but with insurance, it's always good to have adequate coverage in case of an emergency.

Obviously I did not really test the coverage since I did not file a claim, but the process was easy to obtain the coverage and the coverage seemed very competitive for what I needed. I would use Generali Global Assistance again.

It’s been 2 months with back and forths with the claims adjuster. I actually feel sorry for her but they’ve made every effort to discredit the documents submitted. It’s a tactic to make you lose patience and walk away... or the staff is not scaled up enough to conduct proper service. Perhaps this was one random incident but it’s the worst insurance experience I’ve had. They are going to simply provide an email to request a premium refund instead of paying out the claim. Strongly suggest you try someone else. I’m stunned a brand of this insurance company’s caliber has such a shoddy response when a claim is made. I am never buying personal or commercial protection from them again.

Unfortunately (or more accurately, fortunately) we did not need to use any of the benefits of the plan. Knowing we had it however and its coverage made the trip more stress free.
