WorldTrips Atlas Expedition
I have used this plan at least 3 times during the last year. On 2 occasions, I had a claim. The folks who process the claims for this company will "slow walk" your claim and ask for a pile of unnecessary documentation before you see your claim paid. However, in each instance, we eventually received the full amount we were entitled to. On one occasion, a customer advocate for InsureMyTrip was extremely helpful in resolving the issue. Bottom line: good coverage, fair price, slow claims servicing.

    You have also been a loyal customer of InsureMyTrip since May 2009. It is not unusual for customers to find the claims process and necessary paperwork cumbersome, but as you discovered, you can call InsureMyTrip at 800-487-4722 to request an Anytime Advocate to expedite the claims process if necessary.

Purchased this plan after shopping around. Thank goodness we didn’t need to use it but we had the peace of mind knowing it was there if needed. Purchase was seamless and documents send quickly via email. Would definately use again.

The purchasing process was straight forward and price for the coverage chosen was fair. Fortunately I did not have a need to use the insurance policy so I cannot truly rate satisfaction. The satisfaction rating would be applicable if I actually need to use the plan. I would use Insure My Trip again.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
Well, it seemed like the plan offered the coverage I wanted and needed. But I didn't have a claim. Having filed a claim once before (with a different company), I can say that a claim is where the rubber meets the road and where one finds out more about the company than if you just rent their insurance for a while and don't have a claim. So, no complaints about Nationwide Mutual, and the coverage seemed reasonable and reasonably priced. But no claim experience. (The program forces you to choose a satisfaction rating, which is too bad, because I was satisfied, so I gave them 5 stars, didn't seem right to punish them, but it doesn't mean much when there's no claim. Really, there should be a "not applicable" or "no claim" choice for the satisfaction rating.)

AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold
my granddaughter got food poisoning at an all inclusive. i was reimbursed for medical expenses, but our trip was interrupted for 3 days while we had to stay in our room due to her illness. She was unable to eat. This policy would not consider this a trip interruption because we left on the day we were scheduled to. But we lost 3 days of an all inclusive vacation.

    Thank you for advising us on the status of your claim.

    Although we are pleased you received reimbursement of your medical expense, we can certainly understand your frustration to hear that your Trip Interruption claim was denied. However, your Trip interruption claim was fairly denied because it did not meet the terms of your Travel Guard Gold plan which on page 7 of your certificate states:

    Trip Interruption Benefits: The Company will reimburse the
    Insured up to the Maximum Limit shown in the Schedule or
    Declarations Page for Trips that are interrupted due to the Unforeseen events shown above for:
    (a) Unused portion of nonrefundable, prepaid insured Trip Cost, and
    (b) additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured, either
    (1) to the Return Destination; or
    (2) from the place that the Insured left the Trip to the place that the Insured may rejoin the Trip; or
    (c) additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured to reach the original Trip Destination if the Insured is delayed and leaves after the Departure Date..."
