Nationwide Mutual Insurance Prime
When I purchased the plan I had paid for the air fare and the deposit on the tour portion. Since I was anxious to have pre-existing medical condition coverage I immediately purchased the insurance, with the understanding that I could increase the face value amount of the policy when I paid for the remainder of the trip. However, when I paid for the remainder of the trip and contacted you to appropriately increase my coverage, the cost of the additional insurance was at a much much higher rate - frankly unbelievable - and there was nothing I could do so I paid it. I was held hostage in order to have pre-existing condition converage. I am sure that the insurance was good and was valuable, but its COST was prohibitive, unreasonable, and took very bad advantage of me.

    Each insurance provider determines their own rates subject to the approval of the state's insurance department. Many of our providers do not use a flat rate. Some providers charge a higher rate at the lower range of trip cost, while other providers charge a higher rate at the upper ranges of trip cost. We generally encourage our customers to quote at your total expected trip cost so you can review the final premium in advance.

GeoBlue Voyager Choice
The plan was fine and e everything was seamless. The only issue was, Frederic suffered an accident during the trip--a dislocated shoulder--and required emergency-room care. What he learned was, medical care in Mexico is incredibly inexpensive. The entire event--with anesthesia, x-rays and a team of care--cost less than the GeoBlue deductible (I believe the deductible was $250 and the hospital bill was under $200). So, he was not sure if he should have even reported it to GeoBlue or not. Insurance in Mexico is probably more important for extreme catastrophic events. It may make a difference when making future insurance purchases--understanding what is really needed. And maybe this policy is the best option, but with this new-found first-hand knowledge, it might inform future choices.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
Purchased pre-existing coverage which I choose on all trips. FYI: ALWAYS read the policy in full. I had to cancel due to anxiety & filed a claim. I received a call and found out my claim was denied. Anxiety is considered a mental problem and is not covered unless you are hospitalized. I was not hospitalized, so no coverage for my claim. Almost 9K out of pocket.

This exclusion is a standard exclusion in most, if not all travel insurance plans. We strongly recommend customers read the terms and conditions of the policy within the review period to determine if the policy fits your needs. If the policy does not fit your needs, it can be cancelled within the review period for a refund of premium. Please call us at 800-487-4722 if you have any questions or concerns.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
The Essential Plan seems to be reasonably priced for the coverage. Medical evacuation and trip cancellation are my two concerns on any trip and this one has good coverage for that. Fortunately, I did not need to use the plan, but had the peace of mind that it was there. I have purchased this plan several times for cruises, and haven't had to use any of the provisions. One of the couples I travelled with this time had a medical issue 3 days before the trip and one ended up in hospital. He was discharged in time to go, but might have needed the plan if he wasn't (they also had purchased the plan). It just seems like a prudent purchase when you've invested so much in a vacation. Like other insurance you have, you hate to pay for it, hope to never need it, but want the coverage in case...
