Great product for protection against unexpected Medical expenses while in a foreign Country and far away from home. However, the document is not specific as to whether the coverage is primary or secondary. I bought primary but I was not comfortable with the way the document leaves that to interpretation. I believe it should be more clear in case of a claim. I had not such a great experience with a claim from a previous trip. When I asked for the claim documents, the representative told me that I had secondary coverage when in fact it was primary. That’s why I believe that the product document should be more specific about the subject.

Have used Travel Guard for many European trips; always compare with other companies and keep coming back to Travel Guard on the basis of coverage vs. cost, especially coverage for emergency evacuation. Knock on wood, have never had to file a claim, so can't comment on quality and timeliness of response to a claim.

We did not use our trip insurance. But, since we travel during hurricane season, it was nice peace of mind knowing that if anything were to happen we would be covered. A couple of hurricanes threatened our cruise but ended up not impacting it much (other than rerouting of one port). Also, at one point one of our party thought they might need medical attention, it was great comfort knowing that we were covered should that have occurred.

I understand that insurance on a trip like my husband and I took was necessary. I'm certainly glad we did not have any problems that would have required us to make a claim. I might recommend this plan for coverage, however, I found it more costly than most I have had with other cruise vacation trips. I have taken numerous cruises and have never filed a claim so I could not render a recommendation on that basis.

The thing is, you don’t really know how good the company is or how responsive they are to your needs until you need to file a claim. I did not need to do this , so it is hard to evaluate.
