Generali Global Assistance Standard
I was shocked to find out our airline delay due to TSA at a connecting airport was not a covered feature. Fortunately, Turkish Airlines re wrote out ticket even though it was not their fault of a missed connection. They were going to charge us $6000 each for a one way ticket from Istanbul to LAX. We were under the impression that this would be a covered feature.

    Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn of the unfortunate event that occurred during your trip. Unfortunately, no Comprehensive plan will cover a TSA delay as that is not considered a Common Carrier delay. We are pleased to hear that the airline did help you in that instance.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Lite
Since my regular health insurance covers emergency care in other countries, I only needed coverage for the catastrophic event such as an emergency medical evacuation. This policy provided the coverage I wanted at a fairly low cost.

AIG Travel Travel Guard MedEvac Plan
Fortunately we did not need to use the plan but it gave peace of mind for our trip. Since our main insurance is Medicare now I have been using this site for all my trips out of country. It is easy and the price is reasonable.

Keep in mind, a plan is only as good as the service provided WHEN a claim is filed. Things were great on the sales front-end and fortunately, I didn’t have to experience the back-end process! Trip was great without a problem!! Will keep using your service for upcoming travel!!

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
While fortunately i did not need to implement my plan, it was a huge peace of mind knowing I had coverage. My trip was physically demanding and also not easily accessible (Grand Canyon) so I was reassured I was covered if something happened in the canyon. My friend had the same plan and had to cancel early before the trip due to injury. She had no issues with getting her refunds.

Generali Global Assistance Premium
We sailed trans Atlantic with the plan to get off the ship in Le Havre, France and proceed to Paris. Due to weather, the ship diverted to Southampton, England. The ship transported us to London, Heathrow, but we were on our own from there. We had already purchased train tickets from Le Havre to Paris. We notifies Generali of the situation and filed a claim upon return to US. Generali Global reimbursed us for our travel from Heathrow to our Paris hotel. Our entire claim was reimbursed 100% including a charge I had to visit the ship's doctor while on board. I have since purchased additional Generali policies for our next trip. Our claims agent Ricardo Romero did a great job. I have purchased several Generali and GSA policies over the years, but this was the first claim I had to make and so glad we purchased insurance. Don't leave home without it.

AIG Travel Travel Guard Basic
We almost had to cancel this trip due to a sick relative. If we had, it would not have been covered by the Basic Plan and the $800+ that we spent on the insurance would have been wasted, along with the over $12K price of the trip being lost. The trip was great, only a minor hiccup on a return flight being cancelled, but we handled that ourselves. If you are not going to purchase the "cancel for any reason" coverage, then I suggest saving your money and doing without the Basic plan.

    We are glad to hear that you were able to enjoy your trip and hope that your family member is fully recovered.

    Apparently you did not call or file a claim with AIG Travel Guard. The number one and two covered reasons to cancel a trip under Trip Cancellation are:

    "(1) Sickness or Injury of an Insured, Traveling Companion or Family Member traveling with the Insured must be so disabling as to reasonably cause a Trip to be canceled or interrupted or which results in medically imposed restrictions as certified by a Physician at the time of Loss preventing continued participation in the Trip;
    (2) Sickness or Injury of a Family Member not traveling with the Insured must be because their condition is life threatening as certified by a Physician, or they require the Insured’s immediate care. Such disability must be so disabling as to reasonably cause a Trip to be canceled or interrupted and must be certified by a Physician..."

    Although we cannot predetermine a claim, you may have been covered under this policy subject to the plan's terms and conditions.

    In the future, you may wish to call the insurance provider's claim number to inquire on coverage.

It's kinda hard to give a helpful review because we never (thank goodness) had to actually use the plan so I don't know how smooth an actual claim would have been handled. We purchased the plan for the peace of mind, in the event something did go wrong....which is why folks buy insurance in the first place! It was nice knowing we had the coverage, just in case.
