I like the fact that April provides additional luggage tags and card for customer to carry with their insurance info on them.
...but...Very hard to rate a insurance company when there are no mishaps on a trip.

This is the fourth or fifth time I have purchased this insurance and although I have never needed to use it, I travel with confidence that it is there if I need it. The transfer of risk to the insurance company puts my mind at eases.

HTH Worldwide Trip Protector Classic
www.insuremytrip.com is an awesome way to purchase your MUST NEEDED travel insurance. I LOVE the fact that there is a "cafeteria" choice......check off the coverage(s) YOU want, and get multiple policies to choose from. In addition, some policies give you additional options to increase value in various areas, to meet YOUR needs. Don't leave home without insurance when traveling abroad!!! You can't afford NOT to be covered in the event of an unplanned accident or illness.

We canceled a trip to Australia in the 90+ day time frame required by our tour operator, we received the appropriate 90% refund from the tour operator, and submitted a claim to Trip Mate, Inc., which handles claims for Global Alert, for the 10% penalty we incurred. Ultimately, we received payment from Trip Mate about 4 months after the claim was submitted (all required documentation was submitted with the initial claim). While we did receive the correct amount under our travel policy, the way the claim was handled was ridiculous! (1) You can't get in touch with Trip Mate with one phone call, as they don't answer their phones. Rather, you must wait to receive a call back the next day. (2) We received Trip Mate's checks quite a long time after submitting the claim (3 months), but at least we did receive them. (3) When we DID receive the checks and deposited them in our bank, the bank notified us a couple of days later that both checks hand BOUNCED!!! Fortunately, we hadn't written checks against this deposit, but we did incur $38 in bank fees because of the bounced checks. Trip Mate advised we could submit a claim for refund of the $38, which we did, but we haven't received it yet. (4) After four calls to Trip Mate trying to straighten this out, we received conflicting information from different agents. Very frustrating. We purchase travel insurance almost every year. The next time we do so, we will check first to see if Trip Mate is involved in the claims processing. If they are, we will purchase our travel insurance elsewhere!

Thankfully, we didn't have to use our trip insurance, so I can't comment on the actual processing of a complaint. But the agent who helped me pick the plan was very knowledgeable, professional, and prompt in addressing my specific needs.

Insurance provided what I judged to be costly but necessary coverage. Price of it clearly indicates that I need to consider whether I really need it for future travel.

    Each Company will base the premiums of their plans by 3 main factors; (1) the ages of the travelers, (2) the length of your trip from home to home and (3) the total cost of your pre-paid trip cost. As the traveler's ages change, trip costs increase or the length of the trip is extended, the prices will also change accordingly. Your policy also included the Cancel For Any Reason benefit, which will increase your premium.

We had a horrible experience with April Travel Insurance. 62 DAYS TO PROCESS OUR CLAIM AND 40 DAYS TO RECEIVE A CHECK AFTER THAT! THEY DO NOT RESPOND TO YOUR EMAILS! A missed connection resulted in us having to decide to book last minute flights to meet our ship or cancel the entire trip. We contacted April insurance immediately upon landing to ask for help, and got a voicemail asking us to leave our number and someone would call us right back. No one called us back. After rebooking flights at a huge expense, I called April and they just said to keep all our receipts. I submitted the claim right after we returned, and did not hear from them for 36 days. They contacted us twice over the next month asking for more information (none of which was requested with the initial claim) Each time a requested a status update, I received no response. Finally the emailed us that a check was being issued (which covered less than half the expenses we incurred). After not receiving the checks for 3 weeks, I contacted them to tell them they hadn't arrived. No response. I contacted them 5 times over the next 3 weeks, I got no responses to email, and when I called, kept being told they someone would take care of it, and never received a follow up call. The customer service is horrible. I wasn't questioning the claim, just asking them to reissue a check, and that took another 3 weeks! DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. By the way, I still don't actually have my checks, they assure me that are re-issued and "in the mail"

Luckily we did not have to use or file a claim so I’m not sure how that part would have gone or how easy it would have been to receive reimbursement.
