This is a good plan for supplemental medical and evacuation insurance when traveling. The credit card I use has trip cancellation insurance as a benefit, so did not need to buy that separately.

I buy trip insurance for two coverages; medical cost incurred outside the USA and medical evacuation back to the USA. The rest of the insurance is nice but not the deciding factor.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
I was very comforted in the fact that if something should have happened while away on my trip that I was covered with insurance. It was a long way from home and who knows if I would have lost my luggage or even my life. I could rest at ease knowing I was covered by a very well known insurance company.

I am very satisfied with the resolution of our claim. The premium was fair. Processing time was much longer than anticipated, likely due to an exceptionally high number of claims due to Hurricane Irma. The delay did create some uncertainty that the claim would be paid but it worked out. I would prefer that the policy offered a “cancel for any reason” option. Given life’s uncertainties as a senior, I would likely accept the additional premium when insuring an expensive trip. Without this coverage, the fine print detail in a policy creates uncertainty.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
Thank goodness we didn’t have to use the insurance, but happy we were covered. We were delayed going to Labadee Haiti because we had to go to the Bahamas to take someone that was sick and needed to go to the hospital, so it really hit home the importance of having insurance because you just never expect to have an emergency like that happen.

Travelex Travel Basic
We chose this plan because we have elderly parents and were concerned that we may be called back home should they become ill. Fortunately we did not need to make a claim, but we enjoyed our trip more knowing that if something came up we were covered, and would have help making arrangements to come home.
