Never needed any portion of the insurance but it was wonderful to have the peace of mind in case we did need the insurance. Our daughter had an AWESOME time on her "Study Abroad" trip to South Korea. It was her first trip anywhere out of the states.

We certainly will remember John Hancock travel insurance for any of our travels...daughter or whole family, in the future.

It was thanks to a friend that I found out about this type of insurance.

My wife had health issues and so had to cancel her part of the trip, though I continued. I filed a claim for $1400 with all required information at the end of May. Upon returning home, after nearly 2 months of inaction and only cryptic notes given in the online claim status report, I called customer service at TravelClaimsOnline.

The representative could not explain the delay, especially during 3 weeks of June when no status entries were made. She also pointed out that for some unknown reason, the claim number was changed without informing me, so I could not know any of the latest status updates anyway.

It is now the end of July and the claim status report of the new number on the day after I called said, "final payment printed". The check finally arrived two months after filing the claim and much confusion.

I made a claim to another travel insurance company for a separate trip that I had to cancel due to my wife's health issue. It was also obtained through InsureMyTrip. The claim was processed in 2 weeks. I will use this company again!

We had a claim for shipboard medical services and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it was handled. From the time I submitted the paper work until the check arrived was about 2 weeks. No questions asked and no requests for further documentation. I had read some rather negative reviews for 7 Corners, the processing agent, but my experience was entirely different.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
I did not have a claim resulting from this purchase, so really don't have experience with how well it covered my needs. One thing is a bit puzzling, is that I purchased from Nationwide because the foreign medical coverage was in the 10's of thousands of dollars, whereas most competitors were covering that at about $5,000. What was the reason why the coverage was so different, and was I over-buying in purchasing from Nationwide?

    As a comparison website, we offer several types of policies with varying degrees of coverage. While this policy does provide a high dollar amount in coverage for emergency medical, we also offer options with more coverage or less coverage than this plan.. There are many factors in determining how much coverage one will need, however the most important is that you feel comfortable with that amount.
