Didn't file a claim, so I don't know how well any claims would get paid. But I'd probably use the same plan in the future.

My flight was delayed for 4 hours, but I couldn't file the claim, my policy said 6+. I should read policy more careful.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear your trip was delayed and apologize for not meeting your expectations. We do offer plans that can provide coverage for a variety of different expenses if your flight is delayed. As you mention, our Travel Delay coverage requires a six hour delay or longer in order to provide reimbursement for certain out-of-pocket expenses you might incur while delayed, such as lodging, meals and local transportation. However, if your flight is delayed due to adverse weather, mechanical breakdown of your aircraft, or an organized labor strike, our Trip Interruption coverage can typically reimburse for additional transportation costs you may incur to return home or rejoin your group in addition to any prepaid non-refundable expenses that you had to forfeit as a result of the delay, regardless of its length. We never discourage our customers from filing claims, even if it appears the plan would be unable to provide coverage for you. We hope you’ll consider updating your review. If you have any additional questions regarding the plan you purchased and the coverages available, please contact us at (800) 348-9505 or via email at [email protected].

Global Alert! Preferred Plus
When your away on vacation or traveling in a foreign country you never know when a medical issue will happen. For peace of mind I always buy a medical plan to cover any needs while I am away. In this case Globel Alert. Keep in mind when you need medical help in a foreign country the first question you will be asked is, "Do you have medical coverage". The price of a medical plan while traveling is nothing compared to what your cost would be if you would have to be hospitalized. Remember, Medicare does not cover your medical expenses outside the US. So remeber this the next time your preparing to travel outside the US.

I was unaware that I should have purchased the insurance within so many days of the travel purchases to get all the coverage we needed. Did not know how to do this as the tour purchase dates were not at the same time as the airfare purchases for the 4 individuals. There were 2 sets of tours purchased on different days, and 2 sets of airfares on different days.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. You can purchase most policies up until the day before departure. However, the best time to purchase travel insurance is right after you put money down towards your trip. Some policies include time sensitive benefits which are but not limited to pre-existing condition waiver, financial default, Cancel For Any Reason and Cancel For Work Reasons. Most plans require that you purchase a policy within 10 - 30 days of your initial trip payment, and insure all prepaid non refundable trip costs to receive these time sensitive benefits.

You can always purchase insurance for cost of the trip that is known, within the required time frame, and then call us to amend your policy when you make the subsequent trip payments. To keep the time sensitive benefits in tact, please be sure to call us within the time frame listed on the policy to add-on the additional travel arrangements.

AIG Travel Travel Guard MedEvac Plan
We only purchased the medical portion of the plan, which we did not have to use. It seemed reasonably priced, but without having the experience of filing a claim, we could only base the ratings ease of purchase and perceived value.

It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it; or so the saying goes.
We did not need it but thanks to the rep who provided advice when it began looking for travel insurance.

The plan was for Medical only and I am satisfied by the coverage offered for the given price. However, I didn't file a claim. I hope though that if I did file a claim, process would go smoothly.

IMT Travel Accident Plan
Listing all the plan's options online would've been helpful (and making sure CSRs are fully informed about the products). When I called, I was told by more than one CSR the available options would not cover me for parts of my specific trip (climbing/mountaineering above 14,000 feet). I was then told a few days later by another rep that there was an option that would cover me for all of it, including climbing above 14,000 feet (we were climbing to just under 20,000 feet, on Kilimanjaro).

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are pleased that you called us back and were able to obtain coverage for mountaineering. The IMT Travel Accident Plan offers coverage for several high risk activities, such as mountaineering, if additional premium is paid for the Athletic Sports and Hazardous Activity Rider. The Athletic Sports and Hazardous Activity Rider can be added onto the policy by emailing [email protected] after the policy has been purchased.

Thank you for using InsureMyTrip for your travel insurance needs. Please call us at 800-487-4722 if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to assisting you in the future.

It's hard to rate travel insurance if you don't have to make a claim. That said, after comparing numerous plans, this one seemed to offer the best mix of coverage I was looking for at a decent price.
