Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
Our trip was interrupted due to the tragic death of our 31 year-old son. The filing of the claim was fraught with delays and repeated requests for information already submitted. The initial reimbursement offered was not consistent with our loss of prepaid expenses and we filed an appeal. The initial appeal was denied, but finally after engaging an advocate from InsureMyTrip and submitting an appeal directly to Nationwide (not their claims processing contractor), we received appropriate reimbursement. To make matters worse, in the face of our tragedy, the representative from the claims processing made repeated insensitive comments in reference to our son’s death. It did not need to be this difficult; we would never buy travel insurance from Nationwide again.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Plus
After comparing all policies, this by far was the best.

AXA Assistance USA Gold
Since we had no claim, as usual, it is hard to evaluate how the service is if we ever do have a claim. One must always read the fine print in policies, though, as even "Cancel For Any Reason" may not mean that.

We have used Insure My Trip many times.

    Trip Cancellation reimburses 100% of the pre-paid and nonrefundable trip cost insured on the policy if the trip is cancelled for a listed covered reason.

    Cancel For Any Reason is an optional benefit which can be purchased in addition to Trip Cancellation. If the eligibility requirements are met, the benefit is selected and paid for, the customer can cancel their covered trip for any reason. Any reason does mean any reason.

    Cancel For Any Reason benefit reimburses between 50%-75% of the pre-paid and nonrefundable trip cost depending on the policy.

    In general, Cancel For Any Reason is applicable if:

    1) the policy is purchased with the benefit included within 10-30 days after making the initial trip payment (time frame depends upon specific policy)

    2) the full cost of all non-refundable prepaid travel arrangements in insured on the policy

    3) the trip is cancelled at-least 2 days prior to the Scheduled Departure Date.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
It was just good to know that if something happened to us before the trip, that we would be covered. Since we did not make a claim on the insurance, I cannot say how the results would have turned out. However, should we travel again by plane and ship, we will probably insure again with you.

Seven Corners Roundtrip Choice
I had a lost luggage problem which turned out to be a travel baggage delay. I sent an email on Monday 1:06 PM California time asking what Seven Corners travel baggage delay coverage would allow me to do? I had to wait for over 27 hours before someone responded. And it was basically a stalling tactic. They never answered my question and instead asked for the policy number, policy holder name and birthrate. I responded with the information and basically never heard from them again. They responded a week later to another of my email requesting their claim procedure. While I wasn't sick or in danger of dying, nevertheless it would have been nice for someone to respond to confirm that I could purchase some clean clothes. Their action is very unprofessional to say the least! It seems that they were more interested in making a profit than providing customer service. What good is their insurance if they don't want to honor it? This is my third time purchasing Seven Corners, but will not use them again in the future.

Unfortunately, I was forced to file a claim for travel delay caused by my airline, resulting in the loss of the first day of vacation in Barbados. The claim was handled promptly and with no hassle for the full amount of my loss. I will be using this again and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
