Attempted to reach the company as our trip to Europe was coming to an end this past weekend 8-30-2019. A hurricane was approaching my home State of Florida and my wife and I were simply trying to reach a representative of the insurance travel policy to ask a question about the policy, however, numerous attempts to do so were unsuccessful. We were never contacted after countless attempts on the “ we will call you back , no wait system “ and we were never cable to have are call picked up on hold. Luckily we did not have a claim... such as travel delay. The Hurricane did not affect Florida and our return flight back London-Dallas to Florida had no issues . If we did have a claim, I am not feeling very confident that we were going to be able to reach someone. This is the first time I have had a Travel policy that I may very well have possibly needed. Probably will choose a different travel policy company next year!

The incident occurred
on Saturday, August 31st 2019 approx. at 5 pm/6pm London Time. We were trying to reach customer service on the number 240-330-1529 (outside the USA) as directed.

Confused about the wording of the policy. Bought it at a high price then just hoped it would work should need be. Didn't want trip insurance but only medical coverage. The 2 coverages seemed inseparable. I have health insurance so you may only have been needed in a truly bizarre incident. You should take into consideration if we are insured and our health is very good with only basic medications needed.

You chose to purchase the International Medical Group's iTravelinsured SE plan. This is a Comprehensive plan which is the most widely known form of coverage and includes Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption in additional to Medical and Emergency Medical Evacuation for a single trip. The iTravelInsured plan does not offer medical coverage without purchasing trip protection.
Since purchasing travel medical coverage does not require a medical examination prior to purchase, there is no sure way for the providers to separate and recognize "healthy travelers" for a lower rate. Premiums for comprehensive policies are based largely on the length of the trip, the ages of the travelers, and the cost of the trip.
Nevertheless, there may be alternatives to coverage which we can discuss with you the next time you travel. If you would like to receive assistance in obtaining a quote or purchasing a policy, please call us at 800-487-4722. We would be happy to assist you.
Hard to review a service that provides protection for certain events if those events don’t occur and there’s no claim needed. The presumption is that it would do what it’s supposed to do... that’s why it was purchased!

DONT GET IT THIS IS A RIP OFF WE HAD A 5 HOUR TRIP DELAY HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR TAXI, HOTEL, REBOOKING FLIGHTS ONLY TO FIND OUT OUR TRIP INSURANCE WOULD NOT PAY UNLESS IT WAS A 6+ HOUR DELAY WHAT A WASTE

Although we are sorry to hear that your claim was denied, Travel Delay does require a minimum 6 hour delay for reimbursement:
"The Company will reimburse You for Covered Expenses on a one-time basis, up to the Maximum Benefit shown on the Confirmation of Coverage, if You are delayed, while coverage is in effect, en route to or from the Trip for six (6) or more
hours due to a defined Hazard.
Covered Expenses:
(a) Any Additional Expenses incurred;
(b) An Economy Fare from the point where the You ended Your Covered Trip to a destination where You can catch up to the Covered Trip; or
(c) A one-way Economy Fare to return You to Your originally scheduled return destination."
In the future, you may wish to review your policy prior to purchasing. A summary of coverage information is included in your Nationwide quotes and Confirmations of Coverage.
Thank you for your comments. However, your Nationwide Essential policy doesn't consider hiking an extreme sport. In this policy, coverage is excluded for:
"12. participating in bodily contact sports; skydiving; hang-gliding; parachuting; mountaineering; any race; bungee cord jumping; and speed contest (speed contest shall not include any of the regatta races;) scuba diving; spelunking or caving; heliskiing; extreme skiing..."

The purchase was easy and the customer service representative was able to direct me to the plan that best suited my needs. The whole thing took about 10 minutes and the price was reasonable compared to what I have paid for other plans.

Our trip was mildly impacted by Hurricane Dorian (cruise itinerary changed). We never had any worries, though, knowing we were covered in the event of a major problem. Invaluable peace of mind!
