While I understand that the coverage options, if needed, would be quite costly, it still seems like the price for the plan was a little expensive. Maybe that's just my ignorance of what goes into the price calculations, though.

I bought "cancel for any reason" trip insurance. The tour company I was going with went out of business. Nationwide denied my claim saying the reason wasn't a covered expense! Even though I paid extra for "cancel for any reason" insurance. The tour company went out of business! I resubmitted the claim and they paid it, but only at 75%. I should have read the policy more carefully - 75% when you buy their best insurance policy isn't acceptable.

We are sorry to hear that Nationwide initially denied your claim. As the claims representative stated, there is no coverage under Trip Cancellation in the Nationwide Prime plan if your travel provider goes out of business.
However, you did purchase the optional "Cancel for Any Reason" coverage which reimburses you if you cancel your trip for "other than a covered reason".
As you stated, travelers should always take time to review the policy terms and conditions. None of the plans on our website offer Cancel for Any Reason at 100 per cent reimbursement. Fortunately, we did not have to use this coverage. However, we thought that the plan provided very good coverage for any anticipated event, from lost baggage to medical evacuation, and it provided primary coverage as well. I also received prompt e-mail response to questions we had prior to departure about what to do in case of emergency. I was very satisfied with the responses.
