AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold
We have probably purchased ten or twelve plans over the past six years. The offering from AIG and the great customer support keep us coming back. I have not filed a claim and certainly do not wish to but, I feel confident it will be handled fairly. For frequent travelers I wish AIG had an annual plan we could purchase for $20K rather than one per trip.

AIG Travel Travel Guard MedEvac Plan
Most plans with AIG show minimal medical benefits. AND - they are listed as "secondary". What is unexplained is - USA medicare or supplemental plans are not honored in most countries. Question is - will secondary coverage pay for anything when medicare is not accepted if medical treatment is necessary?

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. This is a great question, and we feel as though it deserves a public reply. Secondary coverage will pay you after any other Primary insurance has paid the claim and the Primary policies' limits have been exhausted. This means that a Secondary policy may pay for any of the following, after you have filed your claim with your Primary Insurer: your full medical bill, a portion of your medical bill that was not covered by your Primary insurance policy, and/or any deductibles that your Primary insurance company may require you to pay. With this policy, you are typically not required to have a Primary coverage. If you do not maintain a Primary insurance policy, you would be able to file through a Secondary insurance plan directly. In the future, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-487-4722 prior to purchasing a policy. Our licensed representatives are available 7 days a week, and would be happy to answer your policy questions.

The travel plan gave us peace of mind. We did not need it so am not sure if would have been sufficient for our needs.

AIG rejected my claim for travel insurance for our cancelled trip to Italy due to a back problem. I was given different reasons for my rejection and it took 10 months to get my final rejection. I talked with 8 different AIG Travel staff including the President of the company. There were several delays in responses every step of the way in my appeal. Misinformation was given to the NYS Dept. of Finance by AIG. My treatment was unethical and I would never recommend this company to anyone.

AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold
I did not need to use the AIG Travel Guard Gold insurance, but I was glad it was available in case I had a claim. It was good value for the price! I will purchase again for my next trip!

Didn't need to use the policy (Thankfully!). I assume the coverage would have met our needs and it was very reasonable priced.

Total waste of $150. Insurance covered nothing when I filed a claim. They said it was a pre-existing condition. The traveler was not sick when tickets were bought, but got a UTI after. will not use this company again.

Thank you for providing your review. Many travelers believe that a preexisting condition indicates that the individual is actually "sick" with that condition prior to purchasing the policy. The preexisting condition exclusion simply tells you that there is no coverage for ANY medical condition, no matter how minor, if that medical condition is referenced in your medical records as receiving treatment or a recommendation for treatment within the look-back period. Treatment may mean a new prescription, a change in prescription or a diagnostic test, even if that test came out as "negative". It would also include symptoms that would have caused a prudent person to seek treatment.

We are sure that you will all agree that this is a very broad definition that would include most medical conditions. However, keep in mind that the look-back period under the Comprehensive plans is only from 60 to 180 days (depending on plan) prior to the policy's effective date, and that the waiver of that exclusion is available in most plans. Unfortunately the AIG Travel Guard Basic plan has no option to purchase the waiver and does have a 180 day look-back period. Nevertheless, you purchased this plan on 10/09/2015 which was within 7 days of your Initial Trip Payment so had you purchased the AIG Travel Guard Silver, Gold or even Platinum plan, you could have had coverage for that condition.

In the future, please give us a call at 800-487-4722 for competitive quotes so that we can review the coverage.
