Coverage was good on paper, but as I did not have to file a claim I can't really review the product. It would be 5-stars if any claims were handled great and 1-star if I would have had to fight for the coverage.

Didn't need the coverage as all went well on this trip. But that's the good news. You'll be there if we need you!

Purchase process was easy. Happily I never had to use it. I can't give 5 stars to something I haven't used.

I researched many plans before choosing this one, and although I was fortunate enough not to need the coverage, the peace of mind was well worth it. I'll buy it again for my next trip!

I always buy travel insurance after hearing nightmare stories from friends - this policy covered everything I needed and was affordable - an excellent choice.

I should add, however, that I did not make a claim and cannot comment on that aspect of the company.

Most of the reviews here are a bit silly, considering the buyer didn't actually USE the insurance that was purchased. What they're essentially reviewing is the "peace of mind" they purchased, based on promises the various companies made to cover possible events. I would pay attention to the reviewers who actually had to file a claim first. Those are the only reviews that mean anything.
Having said that, as a former tour guide, I can tell you that trip insurance is a necessity, especially when traveling internationally. The last thing you want to worry about is covering the cost of medical expenses or emergency evacuation if you find yourself in trouble in a foreign county. Even domestic travel these days can result in unforeseen expense, at which point you'll be glad you have your own coverage. A short stay in a hospital somewhere could put a serious dent in your wallet in this country, and not necessarily be covered by your health plan at home.
Read the wording of the insurance plan you want to purchase carefully. Watch out for terms like "secondary", which indicate the coverage only kicks in after some other company acts as the "primary" insurer. Translated, that means you have to prove you weren't covered by something else first (like your personal medical insurance) before the insurance will cover the expense. To me that means paperwork, delays, and loopholes they have available to them to avoid covering an event.
In today's political climate, you'll want options if disaster or violence of some sort strikes. And, at best, lost luggage is no fun. Our luggage ended up in China once, instead of San Francisco. Took over a week to get it back. I've seen it all, and wouldn't want to travel without insurance.
As for how good this plan I chose is, I wouldn't be able to really judge because I ended up not having to test their promises. Reading through it in detail, the coverage sounded good for our needs. But the only real test is filing an actual claim. Happily, filing a claim wasn't necessary this time.

The company did follow-up immediately will all necessary information once the plan was purchased, and send reminders just before the trip began. We were pleased with all of that, and hope any claim would have been handled in a similar fashion. I've purchased several plans here over the years, and will continue to do so. To me that just makes sense for any trip, and is the equivalent of packing the proper gear in the event of rain. I don't want rain to ruin my vacation either.
Finally, make sure you understand exactly what's covered under the plan you choose, BEFORE you go. Once you're on your way, it'll be too late. And don't wait until the day of departure to buy, because then it IS too late. They don't allow same-day purchase! Happy travels.

This plan provided peace of mind while traveling in the event medical care was needed or travel interruptions occurred. It also provided coverage in the event we would have needed to cancel pre-trip for a covered reason. Fortunately we did not need to use the coverage.

The coverage cards didn't come AFTER my trip, that is kind of weird.

Thank you for providing your comment which we would like to clarify for you.
On the date that you purchased the policy, HTH Worldwide sent you an email saying:

"Thank you for choosing the TravelGap Excursion insurance plan. If you have not already done so, you can print your ID card, which includes our emergency assistance phone numbers, your certificate of insurance, your proof of medical coverage for a consulate and other important welcome materials immediately when you register at Member Services or visit www.hthtravelinsurance.com."

Apparently you did not read this email in full so that you did not follow through to print your documents and ID card. In the future, if you do not receive information in a timely manner, please give us a call so we can advise you before you leave on your trip.
