Would never travel on a cruise without this insurance. You never know when a family emergency will pop up and you might have to cancel your plans especially when those travel plans are nonrefundable. Also, it is good to have the additional protection in case of an accident while you are traveling ... it really gives peace of mind and assurance.

I was a bit leery to purchase this plan as it was so cheap. It had great reviews, but no one mentioned actually filing a claim, just that they felt secure knowing they had coverage. We were delayed returning due to Hurricane Sandy. Filing the claim was simple (make sure u have excellent documentation) and 10 days later I received a check.

Since we are getting older, we decided to get trip insurance that covered everything, but it was quite expensive. We had a successful trip and didn't have to make any claims.

Fortunately we didn't need to use the plan, but it was peace of mind having it. We get it on all of our cruises, needed it once and were very fortunate to have it. Looking all of the plans available, this one fits our needs (benefits/cost).

I would advise them to review the plan to determine if they feel comfortable enough to absorb the cost of the trip if some problem caused them to miss their trip date or fail to make the trip at all, then purchase or not. I feel the cost is pricey for a very low risk adventure.

I didn't have reason to use my TruTravel First Class plan during my two week vacation in Texas, so I can't comment on how responsive they might have been to a claim. What I did like was the coverage I received as far as trip interruption, misplaced or lost luggage, medical expenses not covered by my own insurance, and little extras such as identity theft. The policy is easy to read -- much appreciated, and not written totally in "the language of lawyers". You purchase travel insurance in the hopes it will never be required, so I was glad to know that if the unthinkable happened, I would have TruTravel's assistance. I will definitely consider them again on a future trip.
