Initially, the claim was denied, but Insure my Trip contacted them for us and they reconsidered and paid. What I learned from this is - read your plan and do not believe what a representative tells you on the phone when you are calling in regarding a medical problem. . They only honor what is written in their plan.

Arch RoamRight Essential
We have used Insure My Trip for many, many years and have chosen a variety of Insurance companies over the years. For this January's trip to the Indian Himalayas, we insured with RoamRight.
At an altitude of 13000 feet, one of us got dehydrated, became quite ill and needed to get to lower altitude and to hospital care. This involved changing our flight back to Delhi and, after care in a suburban hospital, flying home to our U.S. hospital. United Airlines refunded our change fee quicklyand easily. RoamRight's website guided me through entering:
* the required information to prove that we did need to evacuate
* the costs involved in changing the domestic (Indian) tickets and
*the value of the tour that we missed by leaving about half way through the tour.

About two or three weeks after they received this information, they reviewed it and without any "fuss and bother", they issued checks that fully covered our loss.
The incident was terrifying, but the interaction with RoamRight was straightforward and totally satisfying.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
I did not have to use the plan yet I was grateful that I had the coverage. My wife and I are over 65 and the comfort knowing if anything happened we were covered. I have cancer and diabetes and we felt the need to have insurance in case something happened. We had a great peace of mind and the cost was much less than I would have thought . We traveled to South America so the peace of mind was well worth the cost which again was very minimal.

I appreciated your email saying you received my documents. However, no one contacted me about needing additional information until I made the contact after several weeks. I was then informed about the additional information. The person taking the call was very respectful and polite, but was extremely difficult to understand because of an accent and speed of talking. That was extremely frustrating.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Plus
We had to cancel 48 hours before as my son was sick. There was no problems and submitting a claim was simple.

    Each Company will base the premiums of their plans on 3 main factors; (1) the ages of the travelers, (2) the length of your trip from home to home and (3) the total cost of your pre-paid trip cost. As the traveler's ages change, trip costs increase or the length of the trip is extended, the prices will also change accordingly. Since you did not insure your trip cost value, and your trip short in length, the premium was mostly based on your age.

We never got to Cuba after my wife fell on black ice on New Year's Day afternoon. We celebrated the New Year in a local hospital emergency room! She had not broken any bones, but soft tissue damage takes longer to heal. After she visited a specialist--he advised that we cancel our plans to travel in March, since he predicted that she would be only about 70% recovered from her injury. I submitted our claim to John Hancock at the end of January, patiently waited the 30 business days, and received a full reimbursement of all non-refundable expenses as requested. We will never travel again without decent travel insurance, since one never knows what might happen between booking the trip and returning home. I am recommending John Hancock to anyone who will stand still and listen to me.
