This was my first experience with travel insurance. I was unaware of the restrictions accompanying typical polices. I did not know, for example, that I had to obtain the insurance within 15 days of my initial payment for my trip in order to be eligible for pre-existing conditions coverage. This meant that for my August trip, I would have had to buy the insurance in January to have pre-existing conditions covered! I believe that I knew intuitively that the closer one gets to the trip date the more expensive would be the coverage so I was not surprised by that but only the amount that the difference would be.

Plans do vary on their terms and conditions which qualify you for the Preexisting Condition Waiver which is available within 10 to 21 days of your Initial Trip Payment depending on the plan you select. This was the only affordable plan I could find that covered pregnancy. However, I hope that HCC Medical Insurance Services decides to join the rest of the world in offering better coverage and services to (pregnant) women during their travels. This insurance was better than nothing, and luckily I didn't need it. But if I had gone into labor early, or needed other care for myself or my newborn, I would not have had the coverage necessary.

I took this plan to be safe in case we had problems on our trip, going so far from home. Unfortunately we were unable to go due to me ending up in hospital. Our condo was nonrefundable, but they did refund our money without penalty. So what we lost was the amount we paid for the insurance.

Staff at Insuremytrip acted as a middleman, contacting the insurance company to facilitate some response. Insuremytrip staff were responsive and they report global alert says it should have been here last week. Mind you, it is only for a hundred odd dollars and the claim was filed months ago. The form is cumbersome and repetitive and laborious to complete, both the computerized form you have to fill out to ask to enter a claim as well as the claim itself.

When France went on their 90 day state of emergency, I called your office. I could not get sufficient information on how coverage would be affected under these circumstances and when. I did not want to cancel. I was just looking for information about my coverage.

Never used the plan but it's the third time I've bought the same plan for 3 diff. trips as it provides the basic coverage I need (cancel due to sickness/unforeseen circumstance and I have peace of mind). I'll continue to buy this plan for future trips as well, for the low % of total cost, it's well worth it to me so I don't panic if my kid gets a sniffle 2 days before a flight.

I am happy to report that I did not have to file a claim for anything, but I read a number of reviews of people who did and they were all positive. It was very important for me to have insurance because I was going so far away and because if anything happened to me I did not want any problems getting home. I loved that the insurance covered me before I took my trip in the event something happened and I had to cancel, but thankfully that did not happen. Overall I only have had good experiences and I hope that continues.
