AXA Assistance USA Silver
We had to change some parts of our reservation and there was no way to contact the AXA customer service to alert them. If we had had a problem while on the trip perhaps you wouldn't have covered us since there was a change. You should make it easier to contact someone in the event of changes or questions.

In most cases, a policy can be amended if InsureMyTrip or the insurance provider is notified before the scheduled departure date. InsureMyTrip is open and available by telephone and email Monday- Friday 7am - Midnight EST and Weekends from 9am - 9pm EST. I had to appeal three times before $40 of my $120 claim for expenses incurred as a result of baggage delay was allowed. They didn't think the cost of transportation to get to a store to purchase needed clothing was reimbursable. People I spoke to on the phone had no authority to deal with the claim. The documents sent to me referred to me as "the patient" on what was obviously a medical insurance form. I think the claim was finally allowed only because I was stubborn and persistent.

We were unable to take our trip because of an unplanned surgery. We were contacted by the claims department representative in a very timely manner. The claims representative provided their business email and phone information, but never responded to any of my email or phone messages related to completing the claim form and accompanying paperwork. Although that was frustrating, I must have responded satisfactorily to the claims form questions because we received a check for the full amount of our claim in 6 weeks. By the way, I submitted all the claims paperwork as email attachments rather than faxing or mailing between 20 and 30 documents!

We had a death in the family a few days before our trip. I contacted RoamRight and was sent a claim form and reassured that we would be covered. We ended up going on our trip as things worked out that way - so I didn't have to file a claim, but I am so happy I bought this insurance. They were nice and helpful during a very stressful time.

The customer care representative who helped me select the type of coverage I needed was fantastic. My concern required "Cancel For Any Reason" coverage, rather "Pre-Existing Condition" coverage, which I could not tell from the website. Luckily I didn't have to file a claim.

I find that all insurance companies charge an enormous rate for people over 70 ,and we are more cautious then younger people. It is really unfair to us.

Travel insurance providers use a few pieces of information to calculate the cost of a Comprehensive policy: age of the travelers, number of travelers, length of travel and trip cost. In general, a Comprehensive policy will cost approximately 4%-8% of the total pre-paid, nonrefundable trip cost insured.
